Casual vegetarian Indian eatery opened 2016 in the space previously occupied by Rawvolution. One of several LA area locations. Offers combo plates; point to the dishes you'd like from the steamboat plus rice and naan (dairy) or roti (vegan). There is also an a la carte menu of chaat snacks on the wall. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-10:00pm.

delicious!

I get takeout from Samosa House every 2-3 weeks; I rely on them utterly whenever I can't cook for myself. I was surprised to read that some customers call their food too spicy because I have always found it roundly full-flavored and pretty mild. (I'm not Indian; I'm not a pepperhead.) My favorite is their masala dosa. My vegan husband gets from them even more often and loves the variety they offer in their combo specials.

Pros: vegan mango lassi, sag paneer, pav bhaji

Authentic (too spicy)

Overpowering spicy. Cafeteria style. They could try a little harder with replacing most if the diary items with coconut milk/cream.

Cons: Too spicy

OK Dinner

Service is friendly and the vegan options are clear to choose from. Got a combo with three dishes, sambar, chapati and also a samosa. My partner liked the flavors more than I did.

Pros: Friendly service, Many vegan options

Cons: Single use dishes, wasteful

delicious Indian lunch!

Great Indian food and so many vegan options!! I got the samosa with assorted dips and the spicy vegan soy dish they had that day—both good, and the price was great too :)! If I go back I can’t wait to try their South Indian menu as well.

It’s ok

Their food is ok. Not my favorite but it isn’t the worst. My favorite thing on their menu is their samosas. I recommend this place to anyone who likes salty Indian food.

Pros: Fair priced

Cons: Salty

Not a Healthy Choice

I would love this place if they used healthy oils and organic produce to cook with. Unfortunately they cook everything in canola oil, which is as good as cooking with motor oil in my book, so I won’t eat here. Their ingredients are not organic and they cook with literally the worst oil you can eat, so you can be certain that it’s chalk full of GMOs, too. Also, tons of salt (which you pretty much have to do when cooking with conventional produce since irradiated food has zero flavor). So, while it may be a dedicated veggie restaurant that doesn’t cost $20 for a meal, you get what you pay for.

Cons: Canola Oil, Conventional Produce, GMOs

Authentic experience and delicious food

The Samosas are amazing! All the dishes are outstanding and could ewt at anyone of the 2 locations all day. Fairly priced for being in Los Angeles and certainly worth the money. Close to a little India experience. Many items are vegan as many more items are vegetarian because they do use butter. Must try if you enjoy traditional Indian food.

Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious cuisine, Fast service

Cons: N/A

Hurray for veggie Indian food

I'm a fan of vegetarian Indian food so was thrilled to read about this place on Happycow. Here's my Santa Monica Samosa House review.

It's brand new and one can feel the excitement in the air from both the staff and the curious diners trickling in throughout the day. Since it opened last week I've eaten here 3 times already.

A steam table displays the prepared dishes that you could get for your combo plate (rice + 3 dishes). There's also a menu on the back wall for extras.

You have to ask which dishes are vegan, as they are not labeled. Samosa House uses dairy in the curries and naan.

The malasa dosa is quite spicy, more than expected. Fyi.

From the prepared dishes I get the jackfruit, charcoal cauliflower, and the soup.

The samosas are good when they are hot. Once you take them home it's not the same.

Pros: fast

Cons: salty

samosas samosas

It was sad to see rawvolution go out, but I was stoked to hear that Samosa House was coming in. Came by today and had a samosa, it was awesome, freshly baked. I'll come again soon to try other options. I'm a little disappointed to see that they don't label what's vegan, and that they don't offer vegan nan.

Pros: great samosas

Cons: dairy in many items
