Limited options, but understands vegan - Edit
I went here because the eggplant bbq looked so interesting, but I think they took it off the menu. There are limited vegan options, but the owner speaks English and knows what vegan is. Also they know very well which ingredients are in their dishes, so they can explain it to you.
Read moreIn general the menu is not very big, so the vegan options are also limited. They have two vegan salads. But personally I really don’t like salads so I was left with the option of a veggie patty. They are home made. It seems vegan but they also add soy sauce, which I know is not always vegan in some countries, although I don’t know about the Lao standards for soy sauce. The patties can be served with rice, or as a burger. For the burger they will be able to make it vegan by swapping the sauce for ketchup or mustard and without cheese. I forgot to inquire about the burger bun, so please check if milk or butter is added! The veggie patties and rice, is a safe option for vegans. I opted for the burger. The burger came with a salad, fries and ketchup. It was a good and filling meal.
Overal the price is about double of what you pay in another place for a local meal, but I would say you get a good quality for the price. And also good luck finding a vegan burger patty elsewhere. I love that they put their effort into making their own vegan patties. The owner is very friendly, will ask any questions you have about dishes. I felt more comfortable eating here, than in other places in Pakse, although options are limited.
