A unique dining experience - Edit
Sally opens her kitchen to all.
Read moreThose who are fortunate to find this gem are in for a treat.
She makes all the dumplings herself according to the season and market supply.
I would recommend a large portion and selection of whatever is available, as the flavours are worth repeating.
Pros: Everything

Little dumpling delights - Edit
A tiny, neighborhood style dumpling place where you can sit and look out at the temple and square. Sally is friendly and will welcome you in and serve you some tasty dumpling treats cooked up on the spot. A great place to visit in Xi’an.

Must visit in Xian! - Edit
We toured China for three weeks and of course had to stop in Xian for the Terracotta warriors. It was nice to see them, but the real highlight was Sally. We stayed for two nights and after arriving in the evening stopped by her restaurant. We were the only ones in the restaurant and Sally welcomed us warmly and prepared her wonderfully delicious dumplings for us. We only came across her restaurant thanks to HappyCow (we probably wouldn't have found it otherwise) and when she heard we were from Germany she gave us extra fruits as apparently a German guy listed her place on HappyCow, her "lucky star"😄We asked about the cooking class and she was so accommodating to our time constraints (we visited the Terracotta warriors first thing in the morning and arranged to have the cooking class right afterwards). It felt really exclusive being the only 2 people on the class and we spent a great afternoon with Sally touring the markets, where she let us try so many different foods and negotiated prices for antiques. The cooking class was a lot of fun and of course we ate so much food! She really made sure that all our wishes were catered for and everything was vegan. If you are in Xian, I'd say you have to at least stop by for the dumplings, better still book the cooking class!

Best dumplings and stuffed tofu in Xi’an - Edit
Sally is so nice and her food is simply delicious. We had a mix of mushroom and chives dumplings, both of them were delicious and we also had the stuffed tofu which was from another planet.

We went on a Sunday and arrived 10-15 minutes after the opening time mentioned in the listing. The place was closed and because others had written that the woman is nice and can speak English I gave her a call. She said she was at the market and could we come back in an hour. I couldn't because I had a flight to catch that afternoon, and my friends didn't want to bother as they're not vegan (or even vegetarian). The woman said she'd come back in 15 minutes then and could we wait. We agreed to that and went for a wander in the temple that's right there, and the woman called us after she'd arrived.

Have a look at the photos others have posted so you know what to look for when you're trying to find the place.

Just like Home! - Edit
A must visit if you are in Xi'an. The dumplings are all handmade, fresh and delicious. Sally makes you feel so welcome in her cozy space. It is like visiting a friend and having a bite to eat at their home. Sally welcomes you completely and is the most beautiful person. She is fun, happy and is so passionate. Such a joy to be around! We went three days in a row as the dumplings were delicious and the company was so warm and welcoming.

The best dumplings! - Edit
Almost missed seeing this little gem inconspicuously tucked away next to a temple. Was not disappointed by what was on offer. I’ve had a very hard time finding vegan dumplings in China and these are by far and away the best I’ve tried! They were so good I ordered two servings which totalled 40 dumplings, I was stuffed!
Read moreSally also offers dumpling cooking classes from 8am to 1pm for 300RMB per person and to be honest this is the best money I’ve spent so far on my travels through China. This includes a trip to a local market bustling with locals, breakfast, a visit to a beautiful mosque and of course the dumpling cooking class with as much tea as you can drink!
If you have half a day spare you should definitely give this a try! If you don’t, you still need to drop by and order some dumplings. You will not be disappointed, I most certainly was not!
Pros: Best Dumplings in China, Reasonably priced, I can now make dumplings for my friends!

You have to go here if you like dumplings! - Edit
We love dumplings but have trouble finding vegetarian ones in China usually, this place was SO GOOD and just the relaxing break we needed in our travels! We went around 1 pm, you can walk through a big market past a temple to get there, I used Baidu maps. I called before just to make sure it was open, the owner speaks perfect English so you’ll have no trouble even if you don’t speak Mandarin! We had one bowl of green onion tofu dumplings and one bowl of tofu mushroom dumplings, both vegan, served with soy sauce and a lovely chili paste! Huge portion, we were two people and were glad we got two bowls! Reasonable prices too, definitely make the trip here!

Great experience - Edit
My partner and I had a lovely experience at Sally’s little place. The price for the dumplings is great considering how big the portions are (28 yuan for a plate of 20 dumplings). The dumplings are delicious, she makes them fresh right in front of you. Sally herself is so lovely, while we were waiting for out dumplings to cook she showed us to her roof terrace and we watched the sunset there before dinner. A suggestion would be to confirm the price on a calculator or something as Sally got mixed up with numbers a bit due to the language barrier.
