Huge market every Saturday

I enjoyed strolling around the market. I think it’s perfect for people who are interested in buying souvenirs - lots of locally made goods.

Considering how big the market is, there were not that many vegan options. The things I tried were ok but not amazing.

Australias Biggest Market

**SATURDAYS ONLY**
Lots of lots of vegan food to be found. Was spoiled for choice just have to look for it. It gets VERY busy and crowded. Didn’t get round to see it all. The Live music was great!

Big market

You can mostly find a vegan option in every place, but there are not so many of them!

Pros: Vegan options available

Cons: Not so many places

Great shopping experience

Although I did not buy any food here, I enjoyed my experience at Salamanca Markets. There is such a variety and you can visit so many interesting stalls. I bought several items of wooden kitchenware, handmade from Tasmanian wood, as well as a vintage ring. The atmosphere was very lively.
It wasn‘t as crowded when I visited, but maybe that was because it was a little earlier in the day, or I was just lucky!

Hobart’s waterfront market.

There’s a great range of all kinds of Tassie goods. Like the Sunday Farm Gate Market, the Saturday market has a range of fresh produce. However, the Salamanca market is far, far bigger, with a much greater variety of goods. All kinds of things, mostly quality, ethically sourced, or otherwise Tasmanian made wares, but there are a few junk-ware stalls too. (Some farms only have stalls at the Sunday market, so they’re both worth a visit!)

Get in early when it opens, or be ready to wade through the crowd like a sardine. While the entries are guarded with checkins and to control the flow of foot traffic, the amount of people they let in at once doesn’t feel very COVID-safe right now.

There are many cooked food stalls that do vegan options, and a few that are exclusively vegetarian and mostly vegan.
