Cozy and Delicious - Edit
After enjoying the outdoors of Karuizawa, we spent a little time through the shops of the cute Hoshino Resort Harunire Terrace shopping area. While there were a few restaurants, it was slim pickings for vegans. The only restaurant with any vegan options that we found was Sajilo Cafe Linden. It serves Nepalese and Indian food in a cozy setting, the air filled with the aroma of exotic spices.
Read moreWhile the vegan options were very few and not marked, both the waiter and chef were very helpful and understanding and confirmed that the samosas, naan, and sag chana dal were all vegan. We ordered all three, and they were really really delicious! We even ordered some extra naan. So happy to have found this place and really hoping to see even more vegan options there and in the other restaurants around.

Lovely for a vegan curry - Edit
They only have one vegan curry on the menu, but it is delicious! The naan it comes with is well done too. The atmosphere is lovely, we had a great time! ✨

Lovely place but really not vegan-friendly - Edit
Unfortunately I made a special trip out here for dinner as there seemed to be no other options, but my experience was not like what happened with the other reviewer at all.
Read moreFirstly, the staff were lovely of course. The place is nice, and fine service. However, as far as vegan options go, I was told the saag chana daal curry was the only option that could be made vegan - naans could NOT be made vegan. This was fine for me, but then the lady came back and said I had to order something else, and she pointed to the papadam. I didn't want a papadam so I asked about the samosa and another vege side, but she said they couldn't be made vegan. So, I ordered the papadam since apparently I had to?
Papadam arrived, it was OK. I started eating it and the curry arrived. However, there was no rice, so I asked her for rice and she said it couldn't be made vegan. I was so confused but she said the rice contained butter. Honestly, never encountered that before. So yeah, turns out I had been told to get the papadam as something to eat with the curry, since I couldn't have rice or naan. :(
Unless things change, I'm afraid I would definitely direct any vegans away from here. Vegetarians would be fine but this place is hardly vegan-friendly.
Pros: Nice staff, Nice atmosphere, OK for a vegetarian
Cons: Can only have 1 vegan curry, And you cannot have rice or naan as a vegan, Only side is papadam
