the pain au chocolat was pretty hard and tasted burned on the edges, but the middle parts were soft. dipped in cold chocolate it was good. of course, the hazelnut paste inside was incredibly delicious.
the cruffin is for sure overhyped. the filling wasnt as creamy as shown in pictures, but rather a paste with some blueberries mixed in. the pastry is cut in half and this one was very sparely filled, the rest was just the kind of burned dough.
i think id visit again, but try something else

Absolutly must-visit spot in Amsterdam, falled in love with them. 🥹 I've never had better cronuts and croissant across Europe. I wouldn't have problem to pay two times higher amount for each piece of pastry. 😂😂

Wer auf süßes Gebäck steht, für den ist es absolut das richtige. Leider findet man viel zu selten vegane Optionen. Hier gibt es Croissants, Zimtschnecken aller Art, Cronuts und und und. Absolut zu empfehlen.

Small but cute interior with a few seats, lots of bright natural light. A ton of fully-vegan options. We had the chocolate and the pistachio/almond croissant and both were incredible. The almond was especially yummy and moist. Solid pick for a coffee, tea, or vegan pastry!!! 🥐

Small vegan bakery with sweet pastries. Everything looked very delicious and the pastries I tried were tasty. However, all available options were (very) sweet and I would personally love few hearthy items, too. The coffee was also very good.

One of the best cafés I’ve ever visited - Edit
Not only was the cheese and leek toast and the artichoke focaccia completely delicious but the coffee was perfectly made too. The white chocolate pistachio bar is maybe the best thing I’ve ever eaten and I will keep thinking about it. Also had the fantastic matcha cookie, the babka and the pistachio cream cruffin which my husband said was his favourite of all time. Too hungry to take pics of it all🥲

Unfortunately Saint-Jain is not the same anymore. They put less and less cream in the buns, used frozen berries instead of fresh ones, pastries are overbaked. And they no longer allow you to wait for a table to be free to sit inside. Stuff become more rude and unfriendly… it's a shame.

Read moreThey changed the recipes: their signature pastries now have almost no cream, the berries are soggy (probably frozen). The cream itself has become very heavy, more like sweetened whipped butter than the light, delicate filling it used to be. Very disappointing when you pay premium prices.
Also, they no longer allow waiting for a table inside. The queue is still huge, but it feels like they are trying to get rid of their loyal customers.

We went there on a Friday afternoon. It was quite crowded, but the line moved pretty quickly! I had a latte with pistachio milk (first time trying this kind of milk — really nice!), a Hoisin Bun, and a matcha cookie. The Hoisin Bun was delicious, though a bit heavy for my taste. The matcha cookie was heavenly good! My boyfriend had a croissant and really loved it as well. Definitely a great spot to check out when you're in Amsterdam! 🥐

There can be a bit of a queue but goes fast and the pastries are delicious! Highly recommend the croffin with vanilla custard and coconut caramel YUM! It is a bit difficult to eat without a fork and knife but worth it. Matcha is also good here.
