Rebranded - no longer Saimin Dojo - Edit
One star simply because it is no longer Saimin Dojo and they don’t have any Saimin on their menu (or vegan food)

Great saimin! - Edit
I was so happy to find this place on my previous visit to Kauai and get to try something new that my non vegan friends having haver been eating for so long. Although had to add a bit of salt, pepper and chili oil to bring out the full flavor in the broth, I found it super flavorful. The additions may have helped to draw it out, but it's there and up to your own preference for how much salt etc to add.

Vegan Samin - Edit
I was a little hesitant after reading some happy cow reviews that the noodles might not be vegan but I confirmed with them there is no egg in the noodles in the vegan dish. It was amazing! Featured on Diners Dive Ins and Drives for a reason!

Great Saimin! - Edit
Had the vegan saimin, brussel sprouts, and mushroom skewers. The bsprouts were amazing! The saimin was delicious and creamy but felt a bit bland.

Saimin Dojo - Edit
Great Vegan Saimin dish! Though, the broth is pretty rich so you need to have the right hunger level to finish the bowl. I had never heard of saimin soup before and had no idea it is a Hawaiian soup that combines various soups from the Islands local cultures (e.g., Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, etc.)--very cool. I really liked their take on this and the vegan soup was delicious. They could pay a little more attention to the ambiance in the restaurant but otherwise everything was really good.

Ok, not great - Edit
Eggplant and rice is the best vegan dish, not the saimin. Came twice to see if they were having an off day, but turns out they just don’t have good vegan saimin. The coconut base is too thick and lacks flavor. Wish they did a miso or mushroom soup base, maybe some day.

Pretty gross - Edit
If you’re not interested in drinking a thick, heavy bowl of full-fat coconut milk, their vegan saimin is not for you. It wasn’t good enough to warrant how bad it made me feel... physically and emotionally. I regret this decision.
Read morePros: It’s vegan... maybe. The noodles tasted like egg., The saimin had some interesting flavors, Cute spot
Cons: Saimin made me feel reallllly nasty, Ultimately didn’t eat much of it -too heavy/gross

Tasty Vegan option - Edit
Very taste and so reasonably priced for island fair. However I’ve had the vegan saimin twice and both time my stomach bloated instantly. I know TMI but it may be due to the noodles, not certain they are Vegan.

Cons: Questionable Noodles

Yum local foods - Edit
Finally we had a moderate pricing and yummy local vegan dinner! Got Vegan Saimin noodle dish, eggplant dish with rice (instead of potato salad, I asked for extra pickled veggies), fried Brussels sprouts and mushroom stick. All dishes are good, included tip was around $35.

So good but - Edit
The vegan option is incredibly good but I have serious doubts about the noodles.... They look like egg noodles and I'm concerned. Just the thought of it made us feel sick.

Pros: Taste, Price, Easy access
Cons: The noodles look eggy, No wifi if I remember correctly, A/C is a bit too intense

Amazing!! Must stop! Seriously go here! - Edit
The vegan Saimin is my all time favorite noodle bowl. It's like a hybrid between Thai flavors (coconut milk, lemongrass, and maybe curry) and a ramen noodle bowl. The sweet potatoes have crispy skin and the mushrooms are nice. It's a nice hearty meal and honestly the best vegan food I've had on the island after a few days of exploring. Will go back for sure. Also you get to try a local dish!

Delicious vegan saimin! - Edit
First time ever trying saimin and it was delicious! The portion was generous, price very reasonable (especially for Kauai), and flavor was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for any hungry vegans looking for a filling and delicious meal!

Vegan Saimin - Edit
The star of the restaurant is their saimin, and the vegan saimin is excellent. It’s made in a coconut broth with sweet potatoes, mushrooms, nori, and kai choy. It’s counter-service with an array of condiments on a center table in the dining area.
