Love the falafel wrap!

Lots of Mediterranean options in grocery with deli service in back. The falafel wrap is awesome!

Pros: Great small grocery store w/ international flair

excellent selection of speciality grocery items

Originally located downtown on Bank Street, Saeed's has been in business for the 33 years that I have lived in the area, so must be older than that. Its newer store on Ocean Av is sunny and spacious and, though now far from downtown, still worth your visit.

Every 5 years, I have given their house-made hummus and the baba ganoush a try, only to be disappointed each time by both for being way too salty, inedible to my taste. Last week, on my 5-year try, the baba ganoush once again was way too salty, lacked any taste or chunks of eggplant, but even worse this time it had chunks (not bits, but chunks) of raw garlic that I was compelled to remove and discard. I have resolved to give up on their hummus and baba ganoush. But I have not given up on everything else that Saeed's has to offer, and that is much.

Rather, I shop here for their grocery products, for which the selection expansive. Though Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialty items predominate, it really is an international foods market as its name claims. For instance, the roasted buckwheat is imported from Russia. From Russia! Have you ever seen anywhere else any food that was imported from Russia? And it just happens to be the best roasted buckwheat imaginable. Surprisingly, you will find here even foods of a health food store brand, but not necessarily at the typically high prices of health food stores. Indeed, prices here are usually less than you’d expect. For instance, the oversized cans of stuffed grape leaves are remarkably underpriced. So consider this store a vegan’s delight.

Pros: the selection of international grocery foods , the surprisingly low prices

Cons: house-made items way too salty

A unique place to shop & eat

They focus on Middle Eastern cuisine and grocery items, so if that's your flavor, this is the place to go. Mr. Said makes nearly everything there by hand and what he doesn't personally prepare, he orders from a specialty place in Long Island to bring to our neck of the woods. For vegan eats, I highly suggest the vegan chili, hummus, falafel, orzo salad or tabouleh...all of which you can combine into salads or wraps. The Said family is kind and does thier best to provide quality, specialty foods and products.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options, Owned by great people

Cons: Certain items can be pricey
