Erg teleurstellend

No vegan surprise menu

While the menu stated the surprise menu could be made vegan, this turned out not to be the case. I settled for vegetarian, also because the dish they offered as vegan wasn't appealing.

The food wasn't bad, but not special either. Service was also not that great.

Pros: Nice decorations

Cons: No vegan surprise menu, Noisy

Great vegan surprise menu

Reserved 30 min beforehand without looking at the menu but after asking whether vegan options would be possible. Regarding vegan food, I could choose from 2 starters, 1 main course, 2 pasta's, soups and sides, OR do the "Dolce Vita" surprise menu instead, which we opted for (they were also more than willing to think along for other options). They did not have 3 vegan dessert options because we came in last-minute, but we could either get 1 dessert instead of 3, or only have starters (5 types) and main (4 types) like this, which we did. The food was great: avocado carpaccio, samphire crisps, summer rolls, grilled corn, filled tomatoes, grilled asparagus with sesame seeds and mushrooms and mushroom pasta. They did not have vegan butter for the bread rolls so we got (high quality) olive oil instead. All food was prepared just right, everything was grilled nicely or prepared in such a way to really bring out the taste. Friendly staff as well.
Only downside: no vegan mayonnaise, but the restaurant is facing the Jumbo supermarket so I brought my own tube there.
To sum it up: really good food, great veggies prepared in different ways, without any "standard" vegan props such as tofu or tempeh.

Pros: good food, friendly staff, creative cook

Cons: no vegan mayonnaise/butter, some vegan options could be clearer on the menu, portion sizes not too big
