Closed for ever

After searching for a long time, I found a dark hole that used to be the restaurant. It’s demolished, it will never open again. See photos

Amazing food and service

I had the vegan Massaman Curry; it was one of the best I've ever had, anywhere. The service was spectacular as well.
I really like that they have a separate vegan section on their menu. It shows they're paying attention, and it makes it really easy to see what vegan options they have.

Pros: Separate section on their menu for vegan, Superb food, Stellar service

Cons: Not always easy to get a reservation

Great food, decent prices

The menu has two clearly labelled vegan sections, one for starters and one for entrées. There are around six vegan starters and eight vegan entrées, which provides a good amount of variety. Most of the entrées are some variation of curry or noddles. I’ve had most of the curries and have always been satisfied. The portion sizes are fairly generous and the food is great.

The dining area can get packed, so make a reservation if possible. If can also get pretty loud around dinner time; if you want a quiet dinner, this might not be the idea location (but the food makes up for the atmosphere). There is a small patio in summer months. The restaurant also offers take-out.

Prices are reasonable, especially for the Bloor-Yorkville area. Most starters are around $13, and entrées are around $18.

Busy but worth the wait

I definitely recommend making a reservation here, as otherwise you may not get a table for quite some time, or be seated at the bar, which is where my partner and I ended up. That was the worst part about my dining experience, is that I was at the bar and seated about 5 inches from a pillar, so I had a hard time communicating with the wait staff and had to lean around this giant pillar in the middle of the bar.

Pillar aside, the food was really excellent. We had the vegan spring rolls as an appetizer, which came out piping hot (had to wait a while to eat them they were so hot). They were really delicious once we could manage to eat them. I had the vegan drunken noodles which were so good. The portion was generous and I found I had trouble finishing it all, even though I really wanted to - it was that good!

Next time I go, I will definitely make a reservation and I'm excited to try the curry.

Pros: Great food

Cons: Very busy, Bar seating is not ideal

Great food, terribly noisy!

The food is great, having veg. curries. Would be nice to have some more veg. options, at least vegan papaya salad. However, the place is so noisy, with terrible music and acoustics, that I could barely stay there and enjoy my meal. I would recommend ordering a delivery or takeaway instead of suffering the ambience.

Pros: Very tasty food, Veg. Thai curries

Cons: Terribly loud, bad music and acoustics, No veg. papaya salad (sôm-tam)

Deserves 5 Stars

Delicious food with a specific menu for vegans. Love it here. I come here for special occasions with big groups. Atmosphere is nice and fun, service is good, cocktails are interesting and delicous. It's a bit loud at times so be prepared. The best vegan sit-down option in the neighbourhood.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Great cocktails , Fun stuff and atmosphere

Cons: Loud

Incredible food with a separate vegan menu!

I went to Sabai Sabai for lunch a couple weeks ago with my partner and parents, and we had SUCH a delicious meal. It was very busy, though, so we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. If I go there again, I will definitely make a reservation, especially during its seemingly peak busyness from 12 to 1pm.

For both lunch and dinner, they have a separate vegan menu, which was very exciting and one of the main reasons we decided to go there.

For drinks, I got a delicious roasted coconut water (with roasted pulp), and my partner got a Wagtails & Pipits cocktail that he really enjoyed. For an appetizer, we shared a tofu tom ka soup, and it was ridiculously good. The coconut milk broth was amazing.

For our meals, I got the red Panang curry, and my partner got the Massaman curry. We both really loved our meals, though I preferred the Panang curry since it is spicy, as compared to the Massaman curry which is on the sweet side.

I would definitely like to eat here again. Their food is incredible, service was friendly, and it's so nice that they have a separate vegan menu!

Pros: delicious food, separate vegan menu, friendly service

Cons: VERY busy at lunchtime
