Set in Rydal Lodge which is the building in which the Vegan Society had their first HQ. Has a large garden with tables on the river, locally roasted coffee, house-made cakes, hot soup, salad, cold drinks, ice-creams and more. Includes vegan and gluten-free options. Also sells olives, coffee, chutneys and jams to take away. Dog-friendly. Open Wed-Sun 11:00-16:00. Closed Mon-Tues.

Lovely cafe in a lovely setting - Edit
A small cafe only open a month so just finding their feet. Mostly vegetarian but has a decent vegan choice. The chocolate cake I think particularly. The garden is lovely to sit in and right beside river. Accessible also by the hop on hop off bus and easily walkable from ambleside or grasmere along a nice path. The lassie who runs it is really nice and chatty.
