Wonderful food - Edit
Visit here frequently and the food is always delicious. Great selection of dim sum, mains, sides and drinks. Staff are always super friendly and the menu is vegan and caters to a host of other dietary needs as well.

Custard Bao Buns - Edit
Huge selection, I was amused that they had a symbol to mark “non-vegan” dishes (there was only 1) rather than the other way around.

Excellent vegan Chinese food - Edit
Really enjoyed our food here. There was so much choice, it was hard to decide what to have. To start we had sweetcorn soup, which was anazing! We both really liked that and definitely recommend. We also had the vegan 'prawn' crackers, but they were not good - don't order them. For the mains I went for the mock chicken in satay sauce and my husband had the mock beef in black bean sauce. We shared a rice and the portions were plenty.

Ordered a takeaway from Ruyi and genuinely have had so many better VEGAN Chinese meals here… For example lotus plant based kitchen or wawin! Food was meh and a bit pricey

It is a little expensive but it is just incredible food. The (now taken from their menu 😭) House Special Curry was just phenomenal. The new menu is good but I do miss that. The staff are so lovely and the food is so good.

Close To Home - Edit
Having just returned from over 5 years in Shanghai, I was happy to stumble upon this place so close to where I'm staying. The food was really good but it's hard in comparison to the amazing food I had in China. I will go again though.

Amazing - Edit
Such a good Chinese, everything on their menu is vegan except one version of fried rice which contains egg (clearly stated) staff are so friendly and helpful too. The sesame “prawn” toast is to die for

So good. Friendly informative staff. Couldn’t be more helpful. We ordered dim sum, gyoza sizzling ‘chicken’ satay and crispy spicy noodles. All excellent. Large portions which made the price seem more reasonable.

It's like being back in Hong Kong! - Edit
The gyozas were quite plain in flavour but I loved the texture of them, lovely and gummy - very mochi-like - 3.5/5
Read morePeking ribs were good but not the sauce that I grew up with (Peking sauce is normally sour and spicy unless I'm wrong), also, not what I expected the texture to be like, or the protein that was used - it was like a condensed crispy batter bean curd thing with a singular potato to represent the "bone". After a few bites, I realised that the Peking sauce tasted like manuka honey, even though there's no honey in there, so order this if you like that taste- 3/5
Salt and pepper ribs were much better, loved the size, textures and flavours, it's like biting into a firm pillow - 5/5
The spicy vegetable noodles were not spicy BUT! It was exactly the noodles that I had been craving and grew up with. Loved the texture, flavours and the ingredients - 4.9/5 (make it spicy!)
Loved the size of the siu mais, I think the pinkish colour was a bit off putting, but the flavours and texture was there - 3.5/5
Siu lung bao was ok, loved the dumpling skin texture but not the inside since it was too mushy and the flavour was bland - 2.8/5
The rolled bean curds were bursting with flavour, lovely - 5/5
I absolutely loved the batter on the drumsticks, one of the best batters that I have ever had since being vegan, the inside is rolled bean curd - although not the protein that we wanted on the inside, it was still yummy - 5/5
Ham sui gok was delicious, true in taste and texture - 5/5
Highly recommend the noodles, drumsticks, rolled bean curds and trying everything. My scores are low for some dishes because I grew up eating them and although the flavours weren't all there, I realised that I also really missed the textures of them and so I really enjoyed that aspect.
Loved all the dipping sauces too, especially the ginger vinegar one.
Owners and staffs were very nice and I wished that the restaurant was closer to us.
Nice restaurant with outdoor seating.

The best Chinese I have ever had - Edit
I have only been vegan for 3 months and ate meat basically all the time up until this point. My partner came with me who is the same. We were blown away. Firstly, it was amazing to see a dim sum menu (this is what made us want to go try it) but the range on the menu in general was incredible. We had dim sum which was so good and the same and some better than the non vegan counterparts. Because it was so good we decided to try a main and some sides. We were very full but knew we would take it home.
Read moreThe crispy mushroom in the szechuan sauce was incredible. My favourite dish before going vegan was crispy chicken in sweet chilli / honey chilli sauce. The mushrooms were crispier and tastier and had a better texture than what I have ever had with the chicken. My partner had the beef noodles which were INCREDIBLE and the beef was the closest thing to beef I have had since going vegan and even before. The chips were also very good and the fried rice had such incredible smoky flavour that I sometimes found 'regular' Chinese takeaways did not have.
To top it all off, the staff were so lovely and helpful. We spoke to the owner who shared the story of how he came to opening such a place and made sure to check if we were celebrating anything (we were, it was my birthday). I'm glad this place is not too close to us as I think we would eat there all the time, but luckily it is close enough to treat ourselves!
Not only was this the best Chinese I have ever had but it may be one of the top meals out I have had also. Well done to the staff there, they really know what they are doing!

Plant-Based inspiration for Chinese & Oriental restaurants - Edit
I stayed in Chorlton for a month and tried Ruyi’s on my first day here. My only regret is not visiting again… due to the plethora of other fantastic options to try in the area. Every dish we shared was fresh and bursting with flavour. I love that the menu reads like a “traditional” Chinese restaurant menu, despite everything being made with mock meat. My star dish: spicy caramel ribs. I wish these plant-Based options were available in every town!

I wish I could give them more stars!! This is easily the best vegan meal I have ever had. I went for the taster menu and I can't wait to go back and try more! So shocked that the taster menu was only £25 - very good value for money and the staff are so friendly.

Best Chinese we've ever had by miles - Edit
Absolutely mind blowing food. We went with two non vegan family members and everyone was blown away. Incredibly extensive menu with absolutely everything you could fancy. All of the classic Chinese dishes you know and love but taken to the next level. Whoever puts the menu together and works out the best meat free alternative is an absolute genius. We've brought a menu home and we're going to tick off what we've had and work through the whole menu one visit at a time! Would recommend to anyone vegan or not. Tasty. Fresh. Inventive.

If you recently turned vegan or vegetarian and miss your Chinese takeaways, this is the substitute that will leave you with no regrets. They have recently moved to Chorlton and the new shop looks cute with plenty of space to sit in (when we go back to normal!)

A valuable option in outer Manchester - Edit
This has recently reopened and I wish them well. There has been a Chinese vegetarian/vegan restaurant here for some time. This now appears to have changed hands. In the past it was quite an original establishment, very friendly waiting staff and lots of small extras. Previously I had discovered that tips were not being given to the waiting staff, so I hope this has changed under the new team! It was very friendly when I recently visited and crowded out too. For those new to the vegan scene this place will be a treat with its diverse range of traditional Chinese dishes. I think it’s a bit pricey. You may disagree.
