Bed and breakfast on the island of Great Bernera on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. It is motorbike-, pet-, and wheelchair-friendly. Serves guests vegan food using organic ingredients. Open Mon-Sun 07:30-21:00.
This is a veggie BnB not a vegan one. They have eggs on the menu for breakfast and dairy milk and honey available as well.
Guests do not have any heating in their room nor in the lounge/breakfast room (except for one hour around 6am).
Great hosts, spectacular location and great value! We stayed two nights and had dinner on one of the nights.
Helen and Rudi were just the best hosts and their house is in a beautiful secluded spot, which puts you close enough to all the sights while giving a relaxing and quiet break.
The breakfast and dinner were lovely.
Great value for a dinner, bed & breakfast stopover and wonderful walking and beaches (we did the Great Bernera trail - lots of leaflets available at the B&B). We stayed in the double room which was a good size, functional rather than fancy, and had everything we needed; the bed was very comfy. We were able to dry some wet clothes in the dryer which was great.
Helen was very helpful with recommendations and advice, and we would have loved to have chatted more in non "socially-distanced" times. We had a tasty dinner of homemade quiche, onion rings, and salad from the garden, and breakfast in the morning was a generous continental selection, including delicious (homemade again) pate and freshly baked rolls. The weather was a bit too wild to enjoy being out in the garden, but this didn't stop us enjoying the views out across it while we ate.
I hope we will make it back and meet Rudi in the future!
