Tasty breakfast

We had the House breakfast with a serve of braised greens.
It was really yummy, loved the square hash browns, enjoyed the Smokey beans & scrambled tofu with sour dough … it was a lovely filling breakfast.
I had a nice fresh OJ & my partner had a chai … which was ok.
Cafe was comfy to sit in, and staff very friendly.
We bought a mixed berry muffin to take away - it was truly divine, best muffin we’ve ever had.
We’d definitely come back again …

Pros: Tasty breakfast, Friendly staff, Cafe had good vibes

Cons: Serves cows milk, halloumi, eggs, & butter, Not 100 % Vegan, A bit of a walk from the station

Cozy and charming cafe with seasonal menu

This is a comfortable spot to have a cheeky weekday lunch or relaxing weekend brunch. The menu changes between seasons but there’s always a great selection of savoury and sweet dishes. Make sure to specify vegan as a few dishes have honey etc.

Pros: Fresh and high-quality dishes, Good mix of sweet and savoury options, Try their choc banana bread!

Consistent cafe, warm environment

Always nice coming to Ruby Lonesome, next left disappointed. Most items on their menu are Vegan, with expections just being Dairy Milk option for drinks, Halloumi or Eggs for a small number of food items. All dessert items were vegan.

Delicious cake!

Such a cute little spot in a beautiful area. Amazing selection of cakes, friendly service, reasonably priced.

- Amaretto Victoria sponge cake: DELISH, amazing flavour, sponge could be lighter, fluffier, quite sweet by the time I finished the slice
- big boi: good burger, nice caramelised onion, good tofu scramble texture but turmeric tasting, needs black salt for eggy taste
- hash brown: good, bit oily

Pros: Amaretto sponge cake

Worth a visit!

We had their big boi burger and pesto toastie. Both were amazing, but because I loved the BBQ onion relish I preferred the burger 🍔
Coffee was also good, cafe itself is nice and has plenty of seats. They also offer tasting menus.

Brilliant cafe - 5 stars

Our local cafe. Been going to Ruby’s since the month it opened. Service is great, food is mostly vegan & non vegan options marked. Friendly staff and quirky atmosphere.
My favourite is the homemade museli & my hubby loves the big breakfast. Buddha bowl & banana bread are fab. One of our favourite place for a great coffee. The seasonal menu changes keep us coming back for more.
Due to popularity, the weekends are busy, so allow extra time for a leisurely brunch. Lucky we live so close.

Pros: Coffee, Friendly service, Number of vegan options

We came here for brunch and had the big boi with a side of hash - this burger is incredible! The atmosphere is also great and has a lovely courtyard to sit in on sunny days.

My new fave in Sydney

Really enjoyed the Beyond brekkie burger with scrambled tofu and took a piece of wattleseed, espresso and chocolate cake home which was delish. Yummy earl grey tea too. The homemade cashew cheeze on the avocado smash was fab. Has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Pros: Mostly vegan options, Tasty and fresh food, great condiments , Great use of native herbs and spices

Cons: I don’t live close enough to it!

Delicious food and quality coffee

Great coffee, food and service. Everything on the menu can be made vegan on request. Had the waffles which were super tasty with a very generous amount of fresh fruit as topping - serving too large for me to finish

Good vegetarian Café

The food was nice though the serving size were a bit on the small side. The crispy tempeh is quite amazing but the house breaky sausage was mushy and tasteless, some tofu scramble or crispy tempeh instead would have been awesome.
The coffee was delicious and the cakes, mostly vegan, were amazing. The banana bread is vegan as well, too bad the menu doesn't have vegan labels!

Pros: Delicious vegan cakes, Good coffee, Lots of vegan options

Cons: No vegan label on the menu, Servings size on the small side, Long wait for a table and for food

Lovely vibe, ever-evolving menu

This is a really nice little cafe on Addison Rd. The majority of their menu is vegan, I only wish the vegan/non-vegan items were more clearly indicated on the menu instead of having to ask the staff. That said, most items can be modified slightly for a vegan option if not already vegan. Gluten free items are marked.

Pros: Primarily plant based, nice homestyle atmosphere,

Cons: Differentiation between vegan and vegetarian items

Identity Crisis

Not vegan but vegetarian. They say they can make most dishes vegan but nothing is clearly marked.

Waited 40mins to be served on an average weekend, food was average, it lacked flavor, was too oily and the presentation was uninspiring. Vegetarians have a tendency to rely too heavily on cheese and dairy products so it seems like they struggle making tasty vegan food.

This cafe needs to decide what it is, if they're going to create vegan food they should hire a vegan chef.

Cons: Pricey, Vegan options not clearly labelled, Food presentation uninspiring
