Mexican food with a Japanese twist - Edit
Decided to try this place since it was late and didn’t feel like looking too far to get something to eat.
Read moreIt’s more of a fine dining restaurant and they have a vegan tasting menu for like 10.000 yen. Problem is that most of their other dishes are not vegan or can be made vegan.
I wasn’t interested in that and got the cactus taco which was nice. I even got a starter for free (that was vegan)
A bit pricey but it’s to be expected for a fine dining place.
Staff was friendly and spoke English and service was fast too.
Located in the heart of Shinbuja but in a side alley.

Really enjoyed our experience. The food was great and the staff were lovely. The cactus was not my favourite, but that’s personal preference. It was cooked really well and great presentation too.

Loved this spot!! went with a vegan friend (vegetarian myself) and they were very kind and seemed used to our demands. Make sure you tell them first if you are vegan. Everything on the menu that says "V" is vegetarian, but can be changed to vegan upon request.

In the center of Shibuya, RUBIA offers Mexican food added Japanese touch.
Read moreI had their Mexican local style but fancy tacos for lunch. They have enough vegan options to chose from and "Fried Shishito Pepper and Kale with Cactus" was amazing.
They offer Full Dinner Course for vegan as well so I will come back with my vegan friend at night next time.
There are not many vegan-available restaurants in Japan especially these fine dining. Also it is hard for foreigners to find the right place in Japan because of language barrier. (Although I am Japanese, I hear it.) RUBIA offers English menu and foreigner-friendly atmosphere. Considering these, RUBIA is one of the most invaluable spot in the area.
Pros: Excellent foor, Good location, nice vibe
Cons: Little confusing to find the building.
