Perfect for vegetarians - Edit
I've been a strict vegetarian my entire life, and I've been coming to this place for a few years. The staff is nice to me and my family.
Read moreSomeone had previously written a review calling a dessert "weird" and saying that she was waiting to have her order taken. THIS IS A FAST FOOD PLACE. Have you gone to your local Taco Bell and waited for them to come take your order? Didn't think so. Don't listen to the ignorant reviewers on this app that have clearly never been to a fast food Indian place.
Pros: 100% vegetarian menu , Cozy ambiance , Nice Bollywood music playing all the time
Cons: Slightly overpriced , Limited vegan options, with Indian food in general

Food is good - Edit
We usually go on Sat-Sun to eat from their weekend buffet menu 12pm-3pm. Tasty food (ask about vegan specifically- they will gladly point out what to choose without ghee), nice service and energetic Indian music videos on a TV-screen :). For vegans there are Lentil Bread instead of Naan bread, just tell them.

Vegans BEWARE - Edit
According to the woman who works here "they sometimes use ghee (butter) and sometimes don't". You are taking a chance every time you go there that the cook is still there and can answer the vegan questions. Then there's the language barrier (they don't know the term "vegan").
Read moreVegans should avoid this place and head straight to Udipi in Farmington Hills. The food is better and they will be able to tell you exactly what is vegan.
Cons: Difficult to find anything vegan, Staff is NOT helpful whatsoever, Almost everything is deep fried
Now.
Udipi is out of business for many years.

will not return... - Edit
i was very much looking forward to my excursion to Royal Sweets. i found the restaurant via happycow, and had to plan a bit to get there. being vegan, easy options are hard to come by, and the little snippet on Royal Sweets said that they were vegan-friendly and had many vegan options.
Read morei walked in, having never been there, and got no greeting or service for a long time. it was pretty awkward but i was new to the place -- if that's how they run then that's no qualm of mine. when the girl did finally seem to not and mumble to me, i explained that i was looking for some vegan options, specifically in the sweets, and that i'd never been there before.
she just said she'd give me some samples, and i was pleased. she put some food in my hand, and not being indian, i don't really recognize the names of most of the food for sale. i am just open-minded and eager to try the place out. i again pressed to make sure there were no animal products, which i was assured "no, no animal... just cheese."
i was pretty disturbed, and realized i was holding a weird little ball of something like cheesecake. i handed it back to her and asked if there were options without dairy and she simple said "no, most have dairy" and seemed to disregard me. i left with a sour taste in my mouth and a severe need to wash my hands.
i'd say the staff was either NOT informative or NOT very helpful. either that or the original snippet is flat-out wrong in saying that there were vegan options, since straight from the source i was basically told no. this is the most disappointing experience i've had from any restaurant i've gone to because of happycow.
Pros: roof, well-lit, no gunfire
Cons: uninformative, non-vegan, awkward
