27 Win Quarter, Nyaungshwe, Myanmar

Not a restaurant but a do-it-your-self, guided cooking/food preparation experience. Started by owner of the adjacent Inle Pancake Kingdom restaurant. You will be taken through the steps to make a shan noodle dish, charcoal roasted aubergine salad, potato rice and other dishes for 1000 to 2500 Kyats. Some the background to the foods may be discussed or outlined. Use of disposable glove and advice on how to adjust ingredients to suit your individual taste. Employ locals and help them to develop skills to progress, using his background in community based sustainable tourism. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-9:00pm.

not a do it yourself place? - Edit

went there and it was the middle of the Day, the restaurant was open, but nobody was there. Waited around for a minute and nobody showed up. seemed like a normal cafe, we didn't see any space for people to be cooking their own meals.

Great Discovery in Nyaung Shwe - Edit

We had visited the adjacent Inle Pancake Kingdom for lunch and luckily this had just opened. Lovely to find somewhere that you can be sure that they know what is truly vegan or vegetarian.

Basically make your own vegan Traditional dish under guidance and adapting it to suit your tastes. Leaving out peanuts or chilliest for example should you wish.

We had Shan Noodles, potato rice and an Aubergine salad dish. All delicious and only 1,000 Kyat each as of November 2016.

It is still finding it's feet at the moment but there are plans to develop the idea further. We also got to sample tofu crackers, sticky red rice cakes dipped in cane sugar syrup and jaggery 'toffee'.

Aiming for organic or chemical free ingredients.

Well worth seeking out.

Pros: Very friendly, Excellent English, Great food and good value
