Delicious picnic food!

We stopped here for food to enjoy at a picnic on Coconut Island. Everything we ordered was absolutely phenomenal. My combo sampler was a great way to try a little of all the main dishes. BBQ soy protein was not spicy (not that it needed to be, it was very flavorful; I just say this because I steered my spice-phobic daughter away from it and needn't have). The "patties" are like empanadas, available baked or fried.

We forgot to ask for silverware and it wasn't included; be sure to ask if you need it.

LOVE!

Roots Time is the best vegan food in Hilo town and the only all-vegan restaurant. It’s open Tuesday’s/Thursday’s at the Hilo Farmer’s market. The options change everyday, but can check out their menu ahead of time (usually listed the day before) on insta. Since it is a food truck they use disposable plates and cutlery, so I bring my own container and they’re totally cool with that.

Pros: Inexpensive , Friendly, Delicious
