Best vegan GF food in Cambodia! - Edit
We went to Roots after a long day at the temples. The owner's came out and chatted with us about their story and made some recommendations for food. It was all so good, we couldn't finish it all but I crave the cauliflower bites to this day (we were there in January). I tell everyone I know who likes to travel to go here. It's off the beaten path and away from the tourists traps, very serene atmosphere, perfect end to our trip ❤

Favourite Place in Siem Reap - Edit
Out of all the vegan places in Siem Reap and of course vegan-friendly places too, this was my favourite. I loved the venue as it is such a nice place to sit with comfortable seating, a garden and fast Wi-Fi.
Read moreI tried a mocha which was out of this world and a vegan breakfast sammie which isn't something I'd normally try but didn't know when I'd see something this on the menu again so gave it a go and it was definitely the right choice. It was delicious. Finished off with a smoothie as well.
All of it was amazing. LOVE this place. Best in Siem Reap.

Favorite restaurant in Siem Reap! - Edit
I loved this restaurant and wish we had come here before our last day in Siem Reap. The owners were super friendly. I had the meatball sub, which is probably the best I have had since becoming a vegetarian. The burger steak was also really good.

Best vegan food in Siem Reap! - Edit
Absolutely loved everything about this place! The menu is amazing, it was very difficult to decide what to have as I wanted to try everything and it’s all vegan!! In the end I went for a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and shared the popcorn chicken with my friend who ordered a Caesar salad and a tomato soup. We were both blown away and said this was one of the best places we have been to since being away travelling. The popcorn chicken is a must!!! The owner is lovely, we had a great chat with her and even left with some free cookies to take on our day trip ☺️ there will also be a gallery opening soon which will showcase her husbands photography. Anyone visiting Siem Reap should definitely make the time to visit this place ❤️

Best place in Siem Reap - Edit
An absolute MUST.
Read moreWent there 3 times and every single thing I ate was the best I ever had. It’s almost ridiculous how good their food is! Their vegan cheese is amazing, it melts just like “normal” cheese. The portions are big.
Had the Nutella french toast, the meatballs sub (you have to try!) and the pesto sandwich and oh my god, everything was just freaking delicious! Their cookie is just insane, as well.
The owners are the nicest, loved meeting Zoe (she was so friendly and genuinely nice, it was such a pleasure meeting her), her husband and their cute baby. They make everything home made, just the two of them plus one staff member, and it seems like everything is made from scratch, which is amazing.
If you are in Siem Reap do yourself a favor and just go! I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did.
Pros: Vegan, Friendly owners, Food is just DELICIOUS

Wow, just WOW! ❤️ - Edit
Tonight is our last night in Siem Reap and we are so sad to know that this will be our last time at Roots (until we come back) because the food here was simply exquisite!! 💚💚💚 We had the restaurant practically to ourselves, with smooth Christmas songs playing in the background which made for a nostalgic, warm atmosphere. The owners are so lovely here, after dinner we stayed back to chat with Brian for a little bit who is an authentic, kind being. And that energy is also put into the food! Every dish is made with love, care and attention, and it filled our bellies and souls with much nourishment. Because it's there holiday season, they had veggnog as a special drink and OH. MY. GAIA it was SCRUMPTIOUS! Tasted like Christmas.💗We also received a light and flavoursome pea soup amuse bouche to begin with, which really opened up our palates, waiting for more. One of the specials, the popcorn chicken, had the best batter/coating we've ever tried - very reminiscent of the Colonel Sanders flavours, but better! The Better than Tuna Melt and the BB Bowl were so so so good, and we were so full after that that we had to cancel our dessert because we were stuffed to the brim. Which makes us so sad that we have to leave tomorrow so we won't get to try it.😢There will be a next time!!

The food is incredible, the portions are huge and made with lots of love. The owners are really lovely and put in a lot of care into the food. They promote zero waste, all the furniture is made from recycled timber too. If you are in siem reap make sure you come here! Can’t recommend it highly enough, (we just had lunch and will be back tonight for dinner) ❤️

Stop your search now, get on a tuk-tuk and go asap. After traveling southeast Asia for almost a year there are a small handful of places that make you sit back and say "dang, that was awesome". This is one of my top five memorable experiences with vegan food while traveling.
Read moreOrdered: Marinara sub; Nutella toast; cauliflower wings; shake; sourdough burger. Portions are a homerun, sub was yummy, the homemade Nutella was very tasty, cauliflower was perfectly cooked, and the sourdough burger honestly transported me back in time with it's sauce. It was jack n box sourdough burger for sure. Sauces here are on point. The prices are all competitive with most local prices. It's rare with vegan Western foods while traveling, so I cherished it.
The owner is really awesome, she is half Filipino half American who loves traveling as well. Spent time talking about experiences etc. It was enjoyable 😊.
Pros: Everything
Cons: If picky: distance. However, it's worth it!

Hidden gem!! - Edit
A little bit outside the hustle and bustle of the old town market you’ll find this gem of a restaurant. Owned by a young Cambodian/American couple and started earlier this year. When we arrived there they unfortunately had a power outage and were unable to cook anything we stayed to wait it out with some local kombucha and ceasar salad. We were about to leave when the power came back on and decided to eat something a little more substantial. So glad we did!! We had the fried cauli sandwich with tomato soup and a local Cambodian dish called Sisig, both very delicious and crave inducing. The only downside was we weren’t able to get back to try other dishes out during our short 3-day trip. And there were a lot we wanted to try!!

The ‘chickn’ burger is incredible! Best burger I’ve ever had, anywhere!
Tofu ‘eggs’ Benedict was awesome too!
And the melt sandwiches.
Oh! And... the garlic bread! The most incredible garlic bread!
Also, one thing that really impressed me was the side salads. They are delicious all on their own. Perfectly fresh, seasoned and dressed!
So many places just don’t bother.
Presentation of all of the food is great.
Service is friendly and attentive.
The venue is gorgeous, modern but relaxed and the garden is lovely.
If you’re lucky you might get to meet the cat from next door who often plays in the garden!
Tip: because they’ve only been open for a matter of months, some of the tuk tuk drivers don’t know it by name. It’s right next door to a restaurant called ‘Haven’ that they will know.

Small cafe in a garden on a side street near the centre of Siem Reap.

The street where the cafe is located is quite empty and there's little lighting at night; there is a sign outside clearly indicating the location.
