Est. March 15, 2025. Vegetarian cafe connected to previous vegetarian cafe Velocity which was at this site. Has a clearly labeled vegan avocado bagel and a buffalo wrap and possibly others. Most dishes contain egg and/or dairy, but reported most can be made vegan including breakfast, brunches, wraps, bagels & pancakes. No additional cost for vegan milk. Kitchen closes at 2:45pm (can still get drinks/cake). Hosts occasional evening events (tapas). Open Mon-Sat 09:00-16:00, Fri-Sat 17:30-22:00, Sun 10:00-16:00. Last orders are at 2:45pm (except for drinks/cakes) and 9pm for the evenings.

Tasty vegan options - Edit
Completely vegetarian/vegan café. Lovely food and friendly staff. The soup of the day (leek and potato) was vegan and came with sourdough and vegan spread. The scone with chocolate chips was also good.

Not quite velocity - Edit
Not as good for vegans as it once was, but still decent and better priced than elsewhere in town.

So glad its being reincarnated - Edit
Roots is on the site and run by previous staff involved with Velocity which was a much loved veggie community cafe which also had a social enterprise linked to cycling. It’s not got the cycling element anymore (we hope some of the community based events make a come back) but I reckon the food is even better than it was before- such great flavours. We’ve been quite a number of times now and taken and recommended it to others that have enjoyed the food too.
Read moreNot that many dishes are vegan as standard but some have vegan options although not that obviously labelled- best to ask if the dish you fancy can be made vegan. They also have changing specials.
We’ve had some of their specials- Roots Goi Ga- Vietnamese salad, Turkish eggs, and their standard vegan and adapted menu items like pancakes, vegan breakfast, buffalo wrap etc as well as buns, cakes, scones, drinks etc.

Great café - Edit
Read moreI highly recommend this café for breakfast, a snack, or just a coffee and a little dessert 🧁 They have an interesting vegan selection! We tried a flat white with oat milk and a vegan muffin. For breakfast, we also had avocado toast. On the way out, we took a slice of carrot cake and an apple pie to go 🥧 Everything was excellent!
Pros: Cakes
Cons: None

Great fully veggie place - Edit
Called in for tea and cake during a morning in Inverness. Choice of 4 vegan cakes out of the selection they had, including one which was a savoury scone! Both cakes we had were nice.
