Great sandwich find

The space is small but the food is fresh and flavorful. The sandwiches are great—the tofu on a French roll has a rich Bahn Mi flavor, and the tempeh on a wheat roll had a very flavorful Dijon aioli, which reminded me of a classic deli sandwich. Lots of other goodies on the small menu, and the staff says more to come. We went back two days in a row. Open since April 2019.

Pros: Good selection , Growing menu, Very fresh

Yum!

I tried this place for the first time today and I was not disappointed. I had the red lentil fritters and they were fantastic! I'm looking forward to trying more items on their menu.

Updated review 7/9/19 they are now open on Saturday’s and I tried the Chickpea Salad Sandwich. It was fantastic this place is definitely worth checking out.

Fresh food with great service!

We found this little cafe while searching for a vegan lunch spot on a recent trip to Bend. It has only been open a few months. The cafe itself is very clean and well kept. Love how bright and sunny it is. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We even got to meet the chef herself. We tried the Lentil fritters and the Chickpea salad sandwich. Both were so fresh and delicious. The bread on the sandwich was soft. I will certainly be coming back the next time I’m in Bend!

Pros: Delicious Food, Great for lunch, Friendly Staff

Cons: Off the beaten path, Not a lot of indoor seating

I WANT TO BE BURIED WITH THE TEMPEH SAMMIE

Root Down Kitchen was such a delight! We got the tempeh sandwich, the tofu sandwich, and the lentil fritters. I think you can tell which one was our favorite. The flavor was just outstanding. The owner was super rad, and helpful. Very reasonable prices and healthy fare. Thank you Root Down, we will be back!
