Dissapointing

Lots of vegan options but not many that combined and it was extremely overpriced for what is was. There's lots of better meals in Bristol for less money.

Small plates, big flavours

Loved some of the dishes here, the burned leeks were amazing and the boozy prune rice pudding was great. Nice to find a classy place that caters to vegans.

Lemme give 5 stars u cowards

Anyone who thinks they hate vegetables needs to remove the stick from their [censored] and try this heavenly thing. Basically everything can be made vegan and it’s all incredible. Shoutout to the celeriac and onion dishes.

Special flavours

Whilst on the expensive side Root serves very high quality, delicious food. They have a variety of vegan food, that is super fresh and really well prepared.

Pros: Good selection, Fresh

Cons: Expensive

One of the best meals I've had in Bristol

I had an amazing meal at Root. The food is small plates focusing on vegetables. Most of the menu is vegan or can be made vegan.
I shared 5 dishes plus bread with my partner. All were absolutely delicious and it was more filling than expected. The spring onion tempura was my favourite (though I think they change the menu fairly often). The chocolate ganache dessert was amazing too.
The staff were lovely. It's not the cheapest place but a great option for a treat / special occasion. We will be going back!

A very memorable meal

I can certainly echo the sentiments of the previous reviewers and say that the crew at Root really know what they're doing when it comes to leading with plant based dishes.

Last night was our first visit, but I hope it won't be our last.

Having told the front of house staff that we'd be content for the chefs to prepare any of the fully vegan options, we subsequently received one delicious plate after another.

Highlights include the Jerusalem artichokes, the cauliflower tempura and the kohlrabi "ceviche".

10/10

Pros: The staff, The bread, The setting

Cons: zero cons

Simply incredible

A tiny restaurant in the cargo boxes near the river, we didn't know what to expect when we arrived at root for new year's eve, but it turned out to be one of the best meals out I've ever had! The staff were brilliant, marking the vegan options on the menu and recommending dishes and drinks for us to order, whilst always seeking relaxed and friendly. We had a lovely vegan merlot to drink and decided to try almost all of the vegan dishes to eat (they recommend you choose 2-3 dishes per person and then share them, like tapas). The beetroot, blackberry and hazelnut mix blew my mind! All of the dishes were fantastic in flavour and really creative, too. The strawberry and basil sorbet was fab to finish on.

At £7-9 per small dish it's not cheapy-cheap (we spent about £100 for the 2 of us, including drinks), but I would say it's pretty reasonable for the level of skill with which the food was done. The whole location and atmosphere were really nice and it was overall a really wonderful evening. Would definitely recommend for a special night out.

Pros: Amazing, creative food, Lots of vegan options, Lovely staff and location

Great vegan choices

Another spot we visited on a trip to Bristol to celebrate a birthday. We chose 6 plates of the vegan choices and some vegan wine.
Great place within the Cargo box park.

Pros: A good number of vegan options, Great location and views, Delicious and well presented food
