It’s a cold and snowy day in mid-April. A dismal start to the day. I have an appointment here in Worcester and accidentally arrived an hour early. As it happened, Roots and Press was across the street. After wiping the icky slush off my boots, I walked in to a soft buzz of cheerful chatter. I ordered a drip coffee with soy milk and the hummus AVO toast and it is perfection! The coffee perfect in a generous cup. A great selection of book — I found a copy I’ve been searching for!— and some 80’s playing. An ancient typewriter is next to my sandwich on the counter. Staff is chill and super friendly. Just the ticket for this spring-starved gal!

I have ordered at the register and I have ordered using Toast Tab for their website. There's a large variety of vegan food options. I'm happy with the food and drinks I've gotten here. They do have weekend specials that include a vegan option.

Despite my expectations from the name, they have a huge menu with lots of vegan meat and egg options. The vegan chipotle tortilla was delicious and was amazing with the home fries on the side. It was super filling and felt like a really hearty vegan meal. I definitely want to go back and try more options

It was so hard to decide on a dish because the variety is large and delicious. I really liked the vibe of the place! And it honestly had better food than some completely vegan places. I will return! Can recommend the Mac and Cheese and the glutenfree vegan cookies!

I Typically get a breakfast sandwich (with chorizo) or the mac and cheese and recommend both. Portions are filling and staff is super friendly. I wish they didn't get rid of their vegan mac and cheese flatbread :(

The food was so good, even my non-vegan mom was impressed. She loved her Caesar salad. Mac and cheese was my fave. And the cookies were so good too! Bookstore was really cute and was so happy to see a pride display. Can’t wait to go back🧡

I just love the food! I've been there several times and have never had a meal I didn't really enjoy! The mac and cheese is my favorite and it's offered as a side so go for it. The service is good too. It's a little on the expensive side but well worth it. Parking can be a challenge but its well worth a little walk if need be.

The food was absolutely delicious - perfect for my group of friends with all different food restrictions/preferences. The book store is adorable and the staff is super friendly. My only complaint is how small the place is - there are only a small handful of tables in tight quarters, and a lot of patrons stayed long past they were done eating, taking up precious table space. That being said, though, I would absolutely go back - there's so many delicious things on the menu, and I can't wait to try them all!

We were headed to Maine and searching for a place with vegan breakfast options on the way. Luckily we decided to stop at this gem! You walk into a bookstore / cafe which is just a fun and unique vibe. We were instantly greeted by Matty behind the counter who was super sweet and helpful. I was pleased to see so many vegan options. I decided to go with the R&P Griddler and I was NOT disappointed. It was soooo good especially with the addition of maple syrup! It just elevated the sandwich to another level. I for sure couldn’t leave without some sweet treats especially one of their vegan cinnamon buns! If I am ever back out this way I will for sure be stopping here again!

My husband and I just got root and press for the first time, and we’re very impressed. I got the vegan egg salamino piccante with a side of home fries, and he got the vegan BEMAS (bacon egg mayo avocado spinach) with a side of mac and cheese. The sandwiches and sides were filling, and delicious! We also got an iced coffee, and latte, and there was no up charge for nondairy milk. Would absolutely recommend, and looking forward to bringing nonvegan friends as there are extensive vegan, nonvegan, soy free, and gluten free options.

The menu changes pretty frequently… their new dinner menu is BOMB. I got the vegan BBQ bacon cheese burger and it was heavenly. Their vegan breakfast bowl is also amazing. Their lattes are definitely pricey but delish nonetheless.
