Vegan Dinner Options

🌱 BBQ JACKFRUIT TACOS
💰: £8.50
💭: this is tacos containing chipotle mayo, coriander and crispy shallots. I am normally not a fan of jackfruit but these were amazing. They were spicy but the mayo helped to cook it down a little.
🤷🏽‍♀️: Order again? Yes

🌱 VEGAN VEGETABLE TEMPURA
💰: £7.50 (starter)
💭: even though these aren’t labelled vegan on the menu, they assured us they were made without any dairy products and in a different fryer. So unsure why they haven’t been labelled. These are one of my favourites to get as a starter. Highly recommend!
🤷🏽‍♀️: Order again? Yes

🌱 VEGAN YASAI NIKKO CURRY
💰: £14.00
💭: I was a little disappointed because I don’t think they were glass noodles. They really don’t look like glass noodles as per the description. These were lovely anyways. The butternut squash and tofu go nicely together.
🤷🏽‍♀️: Order again? Yes

🌱 VEGAN FISH & CHIPS
💰: £14.00
💭: The fish was smoked tofu. The dish came with mushy peas, tartare sauce and chips. My mum actually got this dish and she does NOT like tofu - so I was concerned. But she really loved this dish… hopefully persuading her to try more tofu dishes!
🤷🏽‍♀️: Order again? Yes

📝: this is a chain of different restaurants around scotland. They each have a semi-different menu. Definitely recommend.

Pros: Different vegan options , Friendly Staff

Cons: Reservation mostly needed

good balance for veg and non-veg

I agree with the themes of the previous reviews though it looks like their menu has changed since last year. I ordered a noodle curry with butternut squash that was very flavorful. The most intriguing option on the menu was the vegan fish and chips, which deserves to be praised just for the brave act of putting this on the menu!😄 Though neither of us were adventurous enough to try it. The tempura-battered onion rings were not very good but we weren't betting the farm on them either.

The service was slow when we went, so keep in mind that this seems like a nice place for vacationers or perhaps businesspeople in no hurry, but the staff was thoughtful and considerate of our dietary restrictions and that's what is most important.

Pros: beautiful surroundings, multiple options for each course, friendly service

Cons: a bit slow

Good vegan options

In our group of 4 I was the only vegan and although the options were somewhat limited, the staff were very accomodating, attentive and friendly. The menu has clear vegan options listed with a choice of 2 starters, 3 mains but only one dessert. It was also nice to see different options there such as vegan lasagna and a curry instead of the obvious veg burger etc. I opted for the sweetpotato, spinach and chickpea curry and the waitress was kind enough to let me know that it was incredibly mild so offered to bump the spicyness level for me, which was greatly appreciated! The curry was supposed to come with rice and flatbread, however what arrived was two empty steamed bao buns minus the fillings, if they had run out of flatbreads at no point was this communicated with me or was I assured that they were a vegan friendly subsitute. The rice was also quite dry and tasted like it might have been the instant type that you'd microwave. However, the curry was delicious so it was a shame that it was let down by the other componenets of the dish. Another reviewer mentioned that the wines were labelled vegan, I don't know if this has changed since as I struggled to see any indication that they might be suitable. I chose a beer that I knew was vegan friendly and also a spirit and mixer drink to be on the safe side, although I would have opted for wine if they were clearly labelled.

In summary, even with a couple of dissapointments, it's still not a bad place to go if you're in the area, especially as the atmosphere was very peaceful and pleasant.

Good for big group -Everybody was catered for

Came here with a large party, some vegans, some veggies and some gluten-free. Everyone was catered for and the food was nice but nothing very exciting. The vegan wines were marked on the wine list which was nice. There was only 1 vegan starter (bruschetta) and 1 vegan dessert (brownie). The mains were either vegan lasagne, chickpea burger or sweet potato curry so all very typical unimaginative pub-like vegan options for a more expensive price.
The actual place was pretty inside and outside though was very noisy. Staff were nice.

Pros: Vegan wines listed on menu , Good for larger parties , Pretty inside and outside

Cons: Expensive , Loud , Unimaginative, kind of bland vegan options
