Really nice & cheap option! - Edit
If you're finding yourself in Siena, trying to avoid tourist crowds and perhaps tired of classical Italian/Tuscan food you've had for all of your Italian stay, this is a place to go!
Read moreAt first I was mortified when I looked at the menu I was handed. THIS had 4 stars on Happy Cow? The dishes aren't clearly marked. The allergens are listed, but it's a hard puzzle to figure it out quickly. You might not find many veggie dishes in the "main dish" section, but what you should do is order 2 or 3 Controni (side dishes) and a bowl or two of rice. You will get a varied, and quite big meal for two people. The staff knows what vegan means and might help you better when you inform them, they were really nice.
I agree with a former review saying that there wasn't much spice, however on every table there's a hot sauce in a saucer you can add freely to your dish.
Pros: filling and cheap, quiet and not very touristy, nice service
Cons: meat-heavy menu that doesn't seem vegan friendly

Inexpensive Chinese restaurant - Edit
There was a good range of vegan/vegetarian options including a range of tofu dishes, fried noodles, fried rice etc. The dishes are very reasonably priced allowing you to buy 2 which, with some rice is enough for a hungry single. I thought there might have been some chicken fat in the Chinese eggplant so might be worth checking if ordering that dish.

Great vegan food for a good price - Edit
They have a great variety of vegan options if you ask for dishes without egg. The chili tofu is a must try! We came to eat here twice. We had vegetable dumplings, wakame, grilled aubergine, tofu with vegetables, chili tofu, fried rice with vegetables (without egg), udon noodles with vegetables (without egg) and bean noodles with vegetables (without egg).
Read moreNOTE: The allergen table in the menu shows the tofu dishes contain milk. However, we think it‘s a mistake as the column next to milk is soy and soy was not marked.
Pros: Vegan selection, Taste, Price

Vegan options but no spice! - Edit
At the back of the menu, there was a chart which listed each dish and whether it contained allergens, including egg, dairy, fish, shellfish, etc. Using this made it easier to figure out which dishes were vegan. Oddly, the tofu dishes were listed as containing milk products.
Read morePros: Many vegan items, Allergen chart helpful
Cons: Very bland, No spice, Tofu listed as containing milk?

Several vegan Chinese food dishes - Edit
Server didn’t speak English so we had a little trouble making sure there were no ingredients like fish, egg, or meat, but we figured it out together! Spicy tofu, vegetable dumplings, and veggies with rice noodles…a nice change of pace from traditional Italian food while on vacation.

Recommend! - Edit
I only have one day in Siena so had to choose my dinner wisely. Only a 5 minute walk from my hotel.
Read moreClear menu in English as well, I tried to explain I’m vegan to the lady but she didn’t speak English and I only know very basic Italian. Anyway we still managed to make what I wanted.
I got the noodles with vegetables, spring rolls, chilli tofu (wasn’t spicy!), & a fortune cookie and it only came to 12.50€!! So cheap!
All was lovely and fresh. I took away as I wanted to watch a movie but the restaurant looked very nice.

Delicious and fresh - Edit
If you want a break from Italian food or just like Chinese food, then you should try out this one. It’s a family-owned restaurant in a beautiful cellar so you get both the sense of historical Siena and Chinese culture while dining.
Read moreThe owners and staff are super friendly and kind. Tell them you’re vegan and they will guide you through the menu.
They have several vegetarian options and some of them can be veganized. The food is fresh and tasteful and the house-made tofu is just amazing.
Pros: Tasteful, Nice venue, Kind staff
