Excellent Food

As stated below, this restaurant is located at the beautiful Andaz property at the papagayo peninsula. Ive been dining here daily for breakfast during my stay as breakfast is complimentary for Globalists.

Breakfast is buffet style. My plate is typically gallo pinto (rice and beans), pico de gallo, cooked tomatoes, and a plantain. They also have a fruit juice station with fresh fruits I will enjoy tomorrow.

For dinner they have a vegetarian/vegan section on the menu. I ordered some tacos and a cauliflower dish. Both were delicious. We also ordered a delicious drink with jalapeños in it. All in all I am very thrilled with this restaurant.

Relaxed atmosphere, wonderful food

Rio Bhongo is located in the Andaz Hyatt. Visitors are welcome. We’re traveling with two vegans and two vegetarians. For breakfast the vegans have eaten beans and rice with tortillas, avocado and plantains, and fresh fruit. It’s out of this world good, fresh, and very filling.

Lunch and dinner have their own vegan menu and have been equally satisfying and filling. We’ve had tofu dishes, beans and rice with crispy onions, and polenta with crispy avocado. The pasta is the only lackluster offering we’ve run across so far. Portions for lunch and dinner are small for growing, active teenagers, especially for the price.

All seating is outdoors but under roof and with fans. Comfortable even in rainy season. The staff is unfailingly nice and they all seem to have some training in what vegan means.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Fresh, healthy food, Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff

Cons: Very expensive for portion size
