Worth a trip to Rome - Edit
Antipasti, primi, secondi were shockingly good - best Italian food we’ve had since we went vegan years ago. Haven’t tried the pizzas (yet) but EVERYTHING we tasted was exceptional. And the server (Valentino) simply made the visit. Small place, kinda noisy, on the street - and just right. What’s even more astounding is the fact that they serve meat and dairy dishes too - we’ve never seen a place that does “traditional” and yet clearly puts so much passion into creating this kind of vegan experience. Wish Happy Cow would let me give it 5 stars, because this place deserves it.

Great cosy corner of Rome where everyone is welcome - Edit
This restaurant was excellent. Nothing fancy just great vegan interpretations of Italian food: bruschetta, pasta, secondi and pizza. Great value wine list. Lovely service in a bustling fun atmosphere. Loving The Cure’s Disintegration playing front to back too. When in Rome go here.

Grazie! - Edit

Worth the walk - Edit
This restaurant had been recommended to me by 2 vegan friends so was definitely on my list of places to visit. It’s a fair walk from the centre of Rome but very close to the main railway station. We arrived shortly before they opened which was lucky as they managed to fit us in but we had a time limit on our table. I have a severe nut allergy which limited my options but the waiter helped me with my vegan choice saying “the most important thing is that you stay well & enjoy your meal”
Read morePros: Lots of vegan options, Staff very friendly and extremely helpful , Reasonably priced
Cons: Very popular so book a table, Majority of vegan options contain nuts

One of the best meals of my life! - Edit
I wish I could Rifugio Romano 5 stars, it truly deserves it. Everything about the restaurant was amazing. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the restaurant itself was super cute with a wonderful atmosphere. The food was incredible and so reasonably priced. I was shocked when we got the bill back at how little it all actually cost, the quality was so incredible. The traditional menu went down well with my non vegan companion, and I loved the variety of vegan options. I had bruschetta, a carbonara, pollo romano and tiramisu. I understand why people in previous reviews say that they went several times during their visits, there are so many options and I wish I had a chance to try more of the menu. This is undoubtedly my favourite restaurant in Rome, I highly recommend it!

best vegan options in Italy!!! - Edit
I wish i could give this place 5 stars but the app won’t let me!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE FOOD, service, and atmosphere!! I have been living in Italy for 3 months and this was hands down the best vegan Italian food I have EVER had! I have been craving vegan pasta and other italian traditional dishes, but many places don’t have vegan options!! I came here with some of my friends and we all got appetizers, meals, and dessert. Our server, Amin, was the BEST and made this an amazing dining experience. This was truly one of the best experiences I have had in Italy yet. I wish the whole menu was vegan… BUT you still have to try!!! So many amazing options, all clearly labeled!!

Very Prejudice against Americans - Edit
First gonna say my husband is vegan and that is why we use this app. We made a reservation for this restaurant for the first night in Rome during our honeymoon. When we showed up, right off the bat the server snapped at my husband to move out of the way so he could close the door. My husband was waiting for people to move out of his way. It was unnecessary to be snapped at. Then the server acted like we weren’t on the list. We pointed to our names on the list. He told us he could either seat us outside or inside for only an hour. We’ve been in Italy 10 days already and know a reservation is not a timed event like that. That is how you treat walk-ups before reservations arrive. When we agreed to outdoors, he sat us clearly at the “walk up” table. No where near the heat lamps and very non-visible to the servers.
Read moreI went up to him and showed him our reservation confirmation email and asked to be moved. He asked me to hold on. Then proceeded to tell the gentleman behind me in Italian he could give him an indoor seat with no mention of a time limit- without a reservation. I guess the server didn’t realize I understood what just happened. So when he said he couldn’t move me, I pointed out he just gave a better table to a walk-in. He got flustered I understood what had just happened. Then he proceeded to try to guilt trip me because if he moved me it would make other reservations angry. It was our first night in Rome and so I stood firm that I wanted us moved closer to a heat lamp. He did point to a table and let us move ourselves. I didn’t take kindly to being guilt tripped considering I watched and they never used up all their tables and no one made an issue to him.
No one addressed us at all for over 35 minutes at the table before I called over our server and killed him with kindness to even get us water. Yes I know you are suppose to let them know when you are ready but I’ve never had someone ignore we might need water. Everything else went well enough. My husband’s food was undercooked but we didn’t even want to deal with it at that point. I’m giving a second star because the food runner girl was very nice and my appetizer was good.
The next English speaking walk-ups they had without a reservation he sat at our original table. This was before we got service. They still hadn’t had their order taken by the time we left so my inclination that we were being put there to be forgotten about was right on the money.
Pros: Starter meals good, Large vegan menu, Food service girl nice
Cons: Rude, Prejudice , Under cooked food

Loved this place! - Edit
Visited here in Nov 2019. I ordered the arancino with vegan cheese to start, then the chickpea omelette with veggies and potatoes, then the tiramisu for dessert. It was all delicious! The photos don't do it justice - they know what they're doing here. After a lot of travel and a couple days of pizza/pasta marinara, I so appreciated a big vegan menu with so many options. Also it was absolutely pouring outside, but we sat on the sidewalk under their little "tent" and it was so lovely. I can't wait to visit Rome again and go back!

Cons: Meglio prenotare in anticipo, locale piccolo

Great discovery - Edit
Wide choice of vegan options inspired by traditional italian & rome dishes, with dedicated menu sections (starters, first courses, second, pizzas, desserts and even vegan wines!). Portions are generous and prices fair, average-low compared to other restaurants. We had a mushroom and chestnut risotto, and a mixed starters dish with fried supplì, arancini, marinated tofu and hummus. We were travelling and would go back for everyday trip meals. #Veganuary
