First Review by Mateusz

veg meat options are great - Edit

This is once a year type restaurant for me, it's got really yummy, really greasy Chinese food. The veg meat is super realistic (first time visiting I actually got worried they gave me actual chicken!) I normally get the Orange 'chicken' which is the best, a little spicy too. Or the Szechuan 'chicken' also spicy, lots of onion. I recommend trying it at least once!

Pros: owner is super nice, veg meat options , great tasting, fast service, price is cheap

Cons: greasy, I wouldn't call this health food

Tasty - Edit

I wholly agree with previous reviews. Surprisingly good food for the atmosphere and price, and plenty of veg options. Make sure to ask for the vegetarian menu; pretty much all dishes can be made with soy protein, plus there are quite a few simply vegetable dishes.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good value, Large portions

Cons: Cheap ambience

LOVE THIS PLACE - Edit

I absolutely love Rice King. They have an entire vegan menu of almost all of their menu items veganized with soy protein. Ask for the vegan menu when you go in. The owner is very nice and accommodating. The deco and atmosphere is that of a cheap Chinese place, but the food is great.

Not Vegetarian, But Very Veg Friendly - Edit

While Rice King does serve meat, it is very often frequented by vegetarians and vegans, and it's easy to see why. The staff is very accommodating to veg customers, and you can request a vegetarian/vegan menu which is about the same size as the non-veg menu. Asking to make sure if a dish is vegan or vegetarian is also very easy.

The food isn't only the standard Chinese veg options of mixed vegetables either (though they have those too, and they are quote good), but pretty much every single meat dish on the menu can be made veg friendly on request (they'll replace the meat with tempeh, and cook in the same manner, so requesting Mongolian Beef Soy would get you tempeh served in the same style as the meat dish). The huge variety makes it so you don't have to order the same meal every time. I would, of course, prefer a fully vegan restaurant, but as far as non-veg places, it's quite good.

While the food may not be the most authentic, it's easily as authentic as 90% of the American located Chinese restaurants. It's also high quality and I've never had a meal taste over or under done, nor was I disappointed. The prices are very reasonable, the staff is friendly, and same with the owner. It's also the only restaurant in Utah I found to be able to make food actually hot (as in spicy), though you do have to specify you want it a bit hotter than most Utah tastes.

So, in short, it's not fully vegan, but very veg friendly, with good food, low prices, excellent selection and friendly people working there. I highly recommend it.

Pros: Value, Friendly Staff, Food Quality
