Decent but unimpressive - Edit
Staff not knowledgeable about vegan (suggested omelet) but managed to order grilled and boiled vegetables. Food was decent, but too overcooked, and without anything special going on except the taste of the vegetables themselves.

An option if you’re close to it - Edit
I had small hopes from what I read on HappyCow about this place but it was soon lost.
Read moreThe waiter (he seemed new) didn’t know if it was possible to do something vegan. He asked in the kitchen and the answer was a plate with sautéed vegetables, raw vegetables and egg. I asked that without the egg and a dose of French fries.
The vegan plate was ok, sautéed vegetables were very oily.
He also told me about their soup of the day made with beans and vegetables. I had a bowl of that and it was good.

Vegan surprise - Edit
Just ordering bread and salad but then being surprised by the waiter saying they can do a vegan dish. So ended up having fried veggies, sweet potatoe, fries, grilled veggies and a salad. Not the best ever (very oily and overcooked) but still a pleasant surprise.
Read moreNot a place for a nice dinner but super convenient for a fast lunch or bite in that area.
Pros: Staff aware of what vegan means, No issues to prepare you something off menu
Cons: Not best food ever

A pleasant surprise - Edit
Big restaurant away from Horta, the main city in Faial. We went there because we were in the area and I was aware there was a veg option available on request. What I did not expect was to have a great vegan meal in a place that typically serves traditional dishes.
Read moreThe portion was quite big. They serve a home made chickpea burger, boiled cabbage, sauteed vegetables, sweet potato and salad. You are asked if you want a boiled egg as well, meaning they consider weather you're ovo-lacto or vegan.
The waiter was very friendly.
Fair price.

Very welcoming and helpful staff - Edit
When I arrived to this place I was not expecting to have a vegan option, but I started asking for some vegan combinations. I was surprised when a full vegan dish was presented to me and it was very good.
Read moreIt is certainly not the best vegan options, but in a place such as Faial with few vegan options available, I was very pleased to find this place.
Ps: it also had full vegan ice cream (not magnum, but similar)
Pros: Helpful staff, Local food
Cons: Few vegan options available
