CLOSED: Restaurant Flor de Loto

Nothing extraoridinary, but ok, staff was friendly, one guy spoke english very well. The cheeseburger comes with fries and consists of oaxaca cheese with soft cheese ;) even the salad did no harm (due to the mescal?)

Not a single vegan thing , many things contain lard and this is not obvious to non spanish speakers, the place is also dirty.

Food was decidedly average but cheap. However, the staff were appallingly rude. Because we were shy and not talkative they assumed we didn't understand spanish and treated us with complete disrespect and hostility. Maybe they assumed we were from the USA ( we're not) but still why humiliate and bully any paying guest? Shame on you- worst experience in mexico- ruined my day and such a contrast from the other lovely people we met in various mexican cities.

Flor de Loto offers a 4 course meal (one vegetarian and one with meat) for 50 and 55 pesos, very inexpensive. They did not have one for vegans, so I had an enchilada with spicy mole. It was the best meal I have had in Oaxaca. My meat eating companion was happy with her meal as well. Our waiter was very fluent in English and the service was great. With so many vegetarian and vegan options, I highly recommend Flor de Loto to anyone visiting Oaxaca. I believe they are open daily.

A rotating veggie menu of the day. Absurdly inexpensive. Soup, bread, salad, entree, dessert and drinks. Attentive service by an efficient, polite but never chatty waitress.

We liked the lentil soup we had. The salad was very basic and didn't necessarily come with any dressing. The mushroom tostados entree was very good too. Not the very best vegetarian food we encountered in Oaxaca (that would be La Olla) but a fine place for lunch.
