amazing food! - Edit

Fantastisk god frukost, bästa frukosten vi hade under vår tre veckors resa här och där i Asien. Fräscht ställe men mycket bra frukost set. Vi unnade oss en hel del på vår söndags brunch och det va mycket värt pengarna!

Amazing! - Edit

Great food, a lot of fun options. They have a regular menu and one with daily specials. Me and my vegan boyfriend have been in Tokyo for five days and already visited twice! The staff is very friendly and the opening hours are great!

Lovely little place - Edit

I'd strongly recommend 8ablish for vegans visiting Tokyo. Such a welcoming and comfortable vibe with really nice staff in nicely decorated dining room.

Food is freshly prepared and tasty. European focussed flavours, leaning towards Mediterranean / Italian.

The service is what makes this place stand out. I had a great time here. Top marks.

Tasty and refined vegan food - Edit

Many people claim that this is one of the best vegan restaurants in Tokyo so I had to go there.
It was pretty easy to find and the location is really nice.
The stuff is very nice.

We ordered a salad with raspberry vinegar, hummus and spaghetti. Salad was good but rather small and not very filling. It is very rare to eat hummus in Japan but this one was good although I prefer less strong taste.
Spaghetti was amazing. We waited for it for a long time, probably because I chose the gluten free version but it was so delicious!!!

This is a very good place but I prefer more simple places.

Pros: 100% vegan, friendly stuff, various dishes

Cons: small portions

Best Restaurant I Have Ever Been To! - Edit

This place is amazing!!! My wife is vegetarian currently but trying to go vegan. I currently still eat meat but definitely enjoy vegan food. This place hands down is the best place I have ever been to. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The tofu is amazing like nothing I have had before! They also have some pretty good Japanese Sake. I recommend this place very highly. The atmosphere is so calming and inviting as well. Anytime we are in Tokyo area we will be stopping here for sure!

Beautiful Food - Edit

Personally many restaurants disappoint me me Japan with their overuse of mayonnaise fried items and just horrible tasting dishes that I wouldn't serve to anyone. This place is the opposite of that. Very well prepared and take pride in their food preparation. The restaurant has a clean welcoming environment and even my meat eating friends said the food was awesome and want to come back. Other restaurants could learn a lot from here. Going again today!

Very lovely - Edit

8ablish was a great little find. The restaurant is accessed by the stairs to the left of their ground floor shop. Very nice environment. Often times vegan locations are lacking space/pleasant ambience etc. This is a date night spot (which is not to say you couldn't go alone, I certainly did) very very nice environment and the prices of their food do reflect that. I had a a tofu/tempeh/veggie kabob with pita bread and tzatziki sauce which I posted a picture of ~$17. Definitely visit if you're got time and you're not on a super tight budget. Very close to the very hard to miss united nations university and the (Christian?) college, and the Kirin Ichiban bar. I walked there from Shubuya which is very doable, also close to a Ginza line subway stop.

Pros: Ambience, Friendly, English speaking/menu

Cons: Price for some

Best vegan restaurant in Tokyo - Edit

We had so much luck to find this restaurant in our last day in Tokyo!
It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food made of high quality ingredients. We had a Vitamin salade and Tofu tempeh souvlaki - it was just fantastic! Dark cherry tart for dessert was very tasty as well. And we were happy to receive a treat - an ice cream with caramel.
Highly recommend this restaurant and hope to visit it again one day.

Pros: Exellent food, friendly staff, great atmosphere

Cons: none

Fine dining in Tokyo - Edit

The best place I have visited in Tokyo so far! I will be back. Really good food, friendly staff, clean and cosy atmosphere.
The food is really high quality with a super presentation. Look at the photos. It tastes as good as it looks. I will definitely come back here. My favorite so far is the souvlaki with tzatziki. The fried potatoes with coriander was exiting. Try it, you won´t be disappointed!
The only negative is the size of the wine glasses, two sips and you are out.
They don´t serve food between 15-17, only tea.

Pros: Excellent food!, Excellent staff!, Excellent place!

Cons: Size of wine glasses

great service - Edit

The staff were really lovely and they kept my glass of water filled. Not pushy or irritated when you take your time to order, and when I asked for suggestions they were happy to help out. The food was really good, large serving size and delicious. I had the caramelised nut tart for desert which was delicious. As I was paying the cashier was really friendly. Overall was a really lovely lunch in a good atmosphere.

Vegan nouvelle cuisine - Edit

This is my favourite vegan restaurant ever!
The food is really tasty and you can notice a research behind both the recepes and the presentation of the dishes.
They do not use a lot of salty sauces that cover the taste of the vegetables which it's something I loved.
Obs! This is a restaurant, not a café or a fast food so if you are in a hurry or if you do not have time to deeply appreciate the master behind this kind of kitchen then it's the wrong place to choose.
The atmosphere is really quiet, the waiters are very kind and helpful.

Desynchronized dining - Edit

Disappointing with the typical hang-ups in Japanese restaurants of a western style. It starts with the one menu per table thing. Does it cost that much more to hand out one menu per person? Would you like me to bring my own toilet paper as well?

My appetizer arrived 10 minutes after we placed our order. My friend’s appetizer arrived another 20 minutes later, so a grand total of 30 minutes after order placed. That the individual dishes of a course – say appetizers – aren’t served at the same time so that all guests can enjoy them at the same time is a problem that often occurs in western-style restaurants here. This alone in my view deserves two stars taken off the rating. Same thing happened with the main dishes – served nearly 20 minutes apart.

Food quality was mixed. I got off on the wrong foot with the “feta cheese style tofu and vegetables”. There was absolutely nothing “feta cheese”-like about this. This was simply firm tofu cut into small cubes and – possibly – faintly marinated. To me it tasted like plain tofu. I then had the ricotta style ravioli with caper cream sauce. This was nice. My friend had the lentil stew which was, nothing special but not bad either. My main was the souvlaki with pita. This was very good. Except that the so-called tzatziki sauce just wasn’t a tzatziki sauce at all. To be precise, it was neither tzatziki nor sauce. Instead it tasted like herbed sour tofu cream cheese. I know what I’m talking about. Tzatziki is easy to veganize since vegan yoghurt is available in these lands. I'll send them a jar of what it's supposed to taste like on the next few weeks. Anyway, the skewer comes with a couple of tofu cubes, a couple of tempeh cubes, a couple of sweet potato slices and a couple of other veggies. All items are marinated and taste great. My friend had the tempeh with tahini sauce which was also quite good. In fact, I would say this is the first place in Tokyo I have been to that seems to know how to handle tempeh. We didn’t have it but I suspect that desert might be the best part of the menu. Atmosphere in the place is more that of an “evening café” rather than a restaurant. Seating is comfortable enough but not very comfortable. And, as so often in Tokyo, spacing of tables is tight. This should really be a 2-star review but considering the lack of better competitors...

Pros: Some effort at creativity , Good wine list

Cons: Delayed and desynchronized serving, Menu items hit or miss

LOVE IT! Amazing design, food, staff, atmosphere - Edit

Fabulous! Really love this place, the vibe, food, atmosphere and everything a perfect lunch spot, I definitely need to try for dinner.
They have a few lunch plates which makes it easy to order everything fresh and delicious. I tried the special Christmas dessert roll - very yummy!
I am a vegan and an interior designer so this place certainly checks off both things...
It's worth a visit - enjoy!

Pros: Food, Atmosphere , Design

Vegan Haven in Tokyo - Edit

I had found this restaurant on Happycow, after a business meeting at a nearby restaurant with the only vegan option being sides of potatoes. It was one of the best things to happen to me. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere fantastic. If you're a meat eater, you'll love it as much as any vegetarian or whole food plant based eater.

My only disappointment, I head home to Singapore tomorrow and won't be able to visit again soon enough!

Pros: vegan ice cream with caramel for dessert!

Cons: None!
