Fun place, so so food

I’d almost go here for the experience alone, even though the food wasn’t great. Really friendly owner!

Maybe I was there too off-season?

There were no guests there when I arrived. The owner welcomed me very friendly and gave me a seat. Without having seen a menu or being asked anything, I was served rice and beans a few minutes after. It was good and quite cheap. But I would have appreciated an information on the choice (or not choice) beforehand.

Rasta food

A small hole-in-wall place serving some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life. So flavorful, so clean feeling. Ignore the surrounding and the cosmetics, come in and say hi. You don’t get a choice here, you’ll be served the same meal everyone else is served, and it’s AMAZING.

Pros: All vegan, Clean food, Flavorful

Cons: Small place, limited seating

Great vegan food in relatively small space

Great vegan food in relatively small space. Most of the seating appears to be outside. Can be a little hard to find - on the same side of the road as the Singer store (opposite the Hibiscus Lodge) and set in the back corner of a parking lot out shares with another business. They did a lot of take out business while we were there.

Delicious and nutritious!

Map location isn’t accurate - about 200 yards further down on the right hand side of the road. There was one girl clearing away plates and taking payment and a friendly Rasta chef who took our order directly! There isn’t a menu - just whatever he has prepared that day. We had a big plate of everything which was bean stew, steamed veg, rice and peas (best I’ve had in Jamaica!) and grilled tofu chunks. Fresh, hot and delicious! Filled us up and tasted very healthy. Not oily at all and delicate flavours in the food. I added some hot pepper sauce to my meal which was tasty! Wanted to go back for more but we decided to save room for sweets as we discovered some “accidentally” vegan cinnamon buns available to buy in general food supermarket!

Pros: Loved the artwork outside of vegan ingredients , Fresh and healthy , Authentic Ital

Cons: Plastic cutlery and polystyrene boxes

Authentically & Ethically Ital

The restaurant is slightly further down Main Street than labelled on Google/happy cow maps and also slightly set back from the road. There was no set menu but we popped our heads in and chatted to the rasta chef while he stirred his pots and he told us we could have steamed vegetables, rice and peas, a brown stew and/or some tofu. We had a plate each with everything on it (pp: 400jmd 200jmd for tofu, we went in and paid at the end) and it tasted great and very very nutritious. So good we were debating getting seconds! Very comfortable outdoor seating (food was brought out to us) and a communal table so we were chatting to some locals. Just while we were there a group of businessmen in suits had their lunch at reggae pot and we were chatting to a fisherman who was tucking into a big plate; this place is popular not just with rastas and vegans! No frills, cheap, quick and tasty. Definitely worth visiting if you're passing through Ocho Rios.

Pros: Great rasta/meat-free artwork all over the walls, Unapologetically proud to be Ital/meat-free/vegan, Comfortable seating outside

Cons: Not too clear how to order or what the menu is, Some people's food was in polystyrene containers, We were given normal plates but plastic forks 😞

Great Total Vegetarian Rastarant

We were in Ocho Rios for the day and looking for a good place to eat. We had a large group of 24 people. I called the night before after reading a review on Happy Cow and spoke to Dino the owner. He usually is not open on Sundays but opened up for us. He gave us a great big plate of food and it was fantastic - nice variety and all vegan. The price was very good and we paid in cash. The restaurant is not big inside but there was plenty of outside seating for all of us. It is a family business and Dino and his mother took great care of us. They also have fresh, natural juices. If you are looking for good total vegetarian food in Ocho Rios at a reasonable price, I recommend that you give Dino a call or just show up. We will go back again!!

Pros: Great Total Vegetarian Food, Good value
