Moroccan inspired vegan dishes
Moroccan inspired fully vegan breakfast and lunch spot. The menu is quite extensive & impressive so cannot mention everything that they offer here. Everything is made-in-house. Drinks include specialty coffee, fresh juices and orange blossom water. Baked goods including cakes & cookies are available. Offers a plate of the day that contains seasonal ingredients. And so much more. Open Wed-Sun 7:30am-4:00pm.

The only fully vegan restaurant - Edit
So grateful that there’s a fully vegan restaurant here. The opening hours are more reduced than some so only got to visit the once. The menu is fairly small but enough choice. There’s indoor & outdoor seating, staff are friendly and food came quickly. We were given filtered water without requesting it which was nice. We ordered a burrito & tofu shakshuka iced decaf latte & matcha latte. It all tasted good. They had a range of cakes (proper sponge ones) and we got an a slice of almond & raspberry cake to take away.

The best place to eat in Taghazout - Edit
Only ate here once, sadly, but I stopped back for items from their bakery counter every day. I had the burrito which was delicious, and their selection of cakes & drinks was very good for Morocco. The service was remarkably friendly too.

It so disappointing when you travel hours to try somewhere only to find out that they are closed when it's advertised as open. They are not open on Mondays this is their regular day off writing this 12/24

One of the very few 100% Vegan Restaurants - Edit
This is one of the very few 100% vegan restaurants in Morocco actually. I came here for the breakfast and had an almond matcha latte w/o sugar, a GF banana muffin & Shakeshofu (tofu the Moroccan way). Not too bad though it’s on the pricy side for Moroccan food. 🥘

Looks amazing but for us to arrive just before the 2pm when the site said they were open til 5pm and they had run out of food and couldn’t serve us was a bit disappointing, as we came that way for it.

Fully vegan - yes! - Edit
So good to have a fully vegan place in Taghazout it is amazing! We liked the place, like the staff, liked the vibe, the music playlist 🤩 and, most importantly, liked the food! We were there several times, and the food was good. We liked best the breakfast burrito, very good! The coffees are also amazing, very very good! The bun is good but the bread is a bit too hard.

Nice decor, friendly staff, wifi. The benedict toast was so tasty - I definitely recommend it. But the Red Clay Bissara was slightly bland. This is the only reason I rate 4 stars not 5.

6-star Vegan Tastebud-Heaven - Edit
We have been trying vegan food in Marocco for weeks now, and found very good dishes, but nothing compares to Redclay Cafe!!!
Read moreI read the glowing reviews on HappyCow (please ignore the one that mentions 'scamming potential, which is nonsense) and found an average of 4.9 stars on Google. So we were coming with high expectations.
Well, we have now spent 3 consecutive days there, and the food (and staff) is just beyond.
This is by far the best vegan place we have found in Marocco.
THE FOOD:
The first day I came with 2 friends, one of them runs a Vegan restaurant in Belgium. We were in full agreement that the dishes and tastes were amazing.
Coming back 3 days in a row, I can say that the amazing tastes are consistent.
They have a small menu, which we, amongst friends, have pretty much tasted completely by now. Ingredients are very fresh and prepared in-house.
The savory dishes are complete heaven. Very nourishing and tastes that are extremely refined. We loved them all.
The portions were great and perfect size.
The sweets, bakery, and desserts are just wow. (the chocolate cake, oh my)
We loved the drinks! Try the Golden Latte, loved it!
THE STAFF is amazing, extremely kind, and helpful.
On the first day I asked if they could pack some food for my girlfriend, who was still in the hostel with a swollen food. The cook came to hear us out and made an extra effort to bring back a great meal to her.
Every day we went, we were met with the same kindness and engagement. Their English is very well (which is mostly not the case in Marocco)
LOCATION
Red Clay is on the main road of Taghazout. The first day we sat outside, very sunny and nice.
On the second day we sat inside, as the music of the neighboring restaurant was very loud and interfered with the music of Red Clay cafe.
Both the inside and outside tables are very clean and tidy. The decorations are simple but give a very homely feeling.
The kitchen is open and small, you can directly see the staff (and thank them!), which is really nice. They have a great atmosphere as a staff also.
The music was great (of course, tastes will differ)
DOWNSIDES?
The only thing I would change is adding some more rotating dishes for return customers like myself.
Apart from that, this place is by far the best we have encountered in Marocco.
If you want to have exquisite foods, this is the place to be.
Pros: Best vegan dishes we found in Marocco, Extremely kind and excellent staff, Amazing bakery and drinks.
Cons: Add a few dishes for repeat costumers😄, Closes at 17hrs, so breakfast and lunch
Akel
Wow what a lovely, carefully written message, thank you so much. You picked out so many of the details that we try pour best to maintain.
Read moreWe'll now begin doing a dish of the day for repeat customers like yourself - we'd thought about it before but your message definitely convinced us that people would be interested.

Great food - but scamming potential - Edit
First of all, the food was really good!!
Read moreThe atmosphere and staff were also nice - until it came to paying. The waiter charged us for a drink even though it was included in the breakfast menu and he kept too much change.
Pros: Purely vegan , Excellent food and drinks , Various options
Cons: Rather expensive in relation to other cafés here, We were charged too much
Akel
Hello,
Read moreI'm Matthew. I own Red Clay along with my wife - you might recall speaking with me on your following visit. I'm glad you enjoyed the food though I must confess I'm very confused. When we spoke you explained that you'd had breakfast with us the previous day but that you'd been charged too much. I explained how the mistake occurred and why it occurred, you seemed to understand my explanation and I gave you the correct money back. We all seemed to leave on a positive note, so much so that the money I gave you back you returned to me as a tip.
I'm at a loss what we could've done better? A mistake was made with your change, you explained the problem, I explained how the problem arose and gave you the correct change. I'd class that as a mistake not a scam.
All the best

We tried almost every dish on the menu and they were all great! The no-fish burger is one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The owners/staff are wonderful. They make everything themselves.
