Get the guac! - Edit
Truly the best guacamole in Tacoma. They also have a great selection of NA drinks, including cocktails and beers. Two vegan tacos listed on the menu rice and either black or refried beans. (Interestingly, the refried beans don’t have lard and are vegan but the regular “beans” listed on the menu are cooked with pork.) Great staff and LGBTQ friendly.

Top-notch vegan tacos and house-made tortillas - Edit
Vegan and veganizable menu items are clearly labeled and include several appetizers/sides, and 2 types of tacos. Corn tortillas are made in house daily! Great vibe.

I really love the food here, though the options are few, they are MIGHTY! Pictured is the tofu taco, sweet potato & black bean, and a new buffalo cauliflower taco with a tahini sauce. Also, I LOVE the house margaritas - my advice is to go during happy hour. The service is hit or miss sometimes imo. I’ve had many occasions where the server has disappeared for 15/20 minutes. Pretty good tacos, but not a big selection - Edit
We popped in here for dinner w/our non-vegan friends after seeing the vegan options listed here on Happy Cow. Staff is definitely aware of the vegan diet and offered some suggestions. Unfortunately, no vegan cheese, so no cheese on any tacos. They do have tofu, black beans and refried beans which are all vegan, so there are protein options.
Read moreWe started with the House Chips, Salsa & Guac, which was good. Chips are very thin and light, if those are the type you like. Next we ordered Sweet Potato Black Bean Your Dad's Taco off the happy hour menu, which was good, but not super filling. Followed that up with the Orange Chicken sub Tofu and that was enough.
All in all, not a bad meal. It would have been nice to have more options, but there were definitely many combinations that could be made with the vegan proteins offered. Would I come back? Not sure, but it's an option in a pinch!

Flavorful and loaded tacos - Edit
I enjoyed my dinner at Red Star! I appreciated that there were a few vegan options (including 2 taco options - if you are okay with honey). The tacos were full and very tasty! I also liked that there were a lot of fun non alcoholic drink options! The chips and guacamole was delicious and a huge portion.
