Red sparrow 4 lyf - Edit

The pizzas here are second to none. Generous toppings and imaginative specials.

They do a vegan deep fried mars bar with ice cream for dessert. Mind blowing. Not a fan of the other desserts I've had but the pizzas are a decent size so no need for dessert.

The service is really excellent and they do some fancy cocktails too.

Pros: Maybe the best pizza in the world?, Deep fried mars bar!!!

Cons: Skip the other desserts, A bit pricey, worth it for a treat

I had reservations about Red Sparrow due to some others reviews; very happy to be impressed!
Service... second to none; attentive, fast and accurate.
The food is generally served within 10 minutes from ordering and is of a much higher standard than the majority of eateries.
Working our way through the menu:
Puttanesca, Buffalo Tofu, Ortolana, Volcano, Supergreen and Patatas Bravas to date.
*note to self: the mozzarella contains palm oil :/

subwaymike 22 Apr 2018 - Hey,
Just to let you know that the palm oil used in 1 of the cheeses comes from Rainforest Alliance certified ethical farm in Central America and not from Asia. Red Sparrow Pizza does not support companies that contribute to the deforestation of orangutan habitat.

The best Vegan Pizza ever? - Edit

I've ate here countless times. It never fails. I've never had better pizza and I eat pizza everywhere I travel.

The cheese selection is incredible! I take non vegan friends here all the time and they are blown away.

Highly recommend the sausage pizza, spicy chips and mars bar desert! Fair price for Melbourne.

Pros: Really tasty vegan cheese selection , Quick wood fired oven , Epic deserts

Exceeded expectations - Edit

Because of all the hype surrounding this establishment, I did expect to be underwhelmed but I am happy to say that was not the case at all!

The staff were also exceptional; such a busy night yet we ordered and were eating our meal in less than 15 minutes.

.....

We've visited around 3 times now with a booking for next week...there are still more flavours to explore!

Be sure to book to avoid disappointment!

Crusty - Edit

I came here alone for dinner around 6:30 and I could only get a seat at the window. The Buffalo Tofu pizza I ordered was generally good - nicely cooked crust and a sharp savoury flavour - but there was not a lot of tofu and the broccoli pieces were too big and solid. Mozzarella was a bit floury, but I imagine it’s hard to make it otherwise.

Pros: Nice crust, Tasty

Cons: Not much tofu on tofu pizza, Broccoli pieces too big

Ok Vegan Pizza - Edit

Coming to Red Sparrow with all the hype we thought it was going to be a good pizza but it was mediocre at best. One star for the pizza and one star for being all vegan.

Delicious pizza - lovely staff - Edit

The staff deserve a medal for patience as I called them several times to book. There aren't many tables and as there was a function we had the choice of eating at the bar stools or outside. We are used to Melbourne so we ate at the tables outside. The pizzas were delicious - crispy thin crust with just the right amount of topping. One pizza is definitely sufficient even if you are quite hungry. The vegan cheese was melty and tasty enough to please even non-vegetarians. Aside from tasty twists on typical pizzas, there were non-tomato based options (mushroom was very good). Sides of salad (Greek with almond feta is highly recommended) and/or chips were also very tasty with staff happy to accommodate requests to avoid or substitute dressings. Make sure you leave room for desert... to share as the serves are quite generous. Tea is real tea from leaves (not bags) which is ideal for a Melbourne autumn evening. Happy to go back.
Jan 2018 - I keep going back and it is still is great. I love the specials and the nutella (vegan version) desert pizza. Keep up the good work guys!

Best vegan pizzeria - better than Sydney's Gigi's - Edit

I live 50 minutes drive from Red Sparrow yet have been here over 10 times... it is that good. Definitely make a booking - it doesn't matter what night it is, they'll be busy. The Buffalo Tofu is my absolute favourite, closely followed by Pepperoni (I've tried them all bar the Mushroom). The deep fried Mars Bar is heavenly... top it all off with a Lemon Capi and you've got the best meal you could ask for. I've been to Gigi's... Melbourne's Red Sparrow wins by a landslide. There's not much more to say! Book a table and gooooo!

Pros: Best vegan pizzeria there is. Filling pizzas, deep

Cons: Making a booking.. I'm usually spontaneous with my

Great pizza! - Edit

Order 2 pizzas on my first night in Melbourne on uber eats and it was a great experience. I got the one with potatoes on it and added zucchini and broccoli, and it was one of the best vegan pizzas I've had, we also got the mushroom one which I wasn't the hugest fan of it was still pretty good 😋

Very busy but fast and tasty - Edit

Try and book if you can otherwise like us you'll end up sitting at the counter. The service was very quick despite the staff being very busy servicing a full restaurant and also several home delivery orders.
We chose the Putanescha and pastrami pizzas - both really tasty - and they have a small selection of craft beers and wines too.
This is not a smart pl;ace to impress a date but a good place to go with a partner or friends.

Pros: Fast service, Great pizzas

Cons: You really need to book on weekends

Perfect Pizza! - Edit

This is one of the best pizza places I've ever eaten at and I've eaten vegan pizza in Italy and NYC so I know what I'm talking about. The Italian style bases are flavourful and cooked just right and I loved their fun topping combos as well as the classics. The pear and walnut topped pizza was probably my favourite but the Hawaiian was also excellent. If you have space you need to try Shelley's desserts too especially if her PB Chocolate pie is on the menu, it's fantastic. Oh and make a reservation - this place gets busy!

Delicious and Attentive - Edit

Wasn't sure what we felt like after a few beers in the local area and Happy Cow App pointed us in the direction of this place. We are sure glad we decided that Pizza was a good option to finish off the evening. A friendly and energetic waitress met us and was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the specials - we went with the special pizza, salad and beer! Generous servings and perfectly proportioned pizzas - we are not huge fans of over the top mock meats and cheeses and this place doesn't overload these toppings. The base was awesome and crispy and flavoursome as well. I really didn't realise that this place was all vegan until I saw a small footnote on the menu - highly recommend and hope to visit again on our next Melbs adventure!

Disappointing - Edit

With all the good reviews, I was expecting much. What I got was a limited choice, ordinary tasting 'cheese'? daya. The service was friendly enough and chip serving probably too large for one person. The atmosphere and décor were uninspiring,in contrast to Gigis in Sydney.

Pros: Vegan

Cons: Limited pizza menu, Bland taste, Ordinary atmosphere

My favourite restaurant in Melbourne! - Edit

An all vegan pizzeria in Melbourne? I'm sold!

We've been here three times already and it has always been amazing. Some of the pizzas we've had are: pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, white pizza with potato and leek and a special, which was BBQ chicken with stuffed crust. They were all AMAZING, especially the BBQ chicken with stuffed crust and the white pizza with potato and leek. The pizza dough is the BEST pizza dough I've had in my life!

The fries are also really good, they come with a nice seasoning.

They have some awesome desserts. We've tried the dessert pizza with chocolate spread and a special - wizard pie. The wizard pie has an Oreo cookie crust, a caramel toffee filling and is topped with chocolate ganache, and comes with vanilla ice-cream.

They also sell soft drink from small/alternative companies, which is cool.

Book ahead because they are extremely busy, so you won't necessarily get a table (especially inside) if you just rock up.

We look forward to going back to this place again and again!

Pros: All vegan, Fresh, amazing pizza with mock meats and cheese, Nice desserts

Got the Bianca - it is the best. Included vegan Mozzarella, Garlic, Oregano, Basil, Parsley, Yoghurt, Pizza Sauce, Feta, Fior Di Latt, Broccolini.

you don't need to get cheese either if you don't want, and they do faux meats too.

Wonderful taste and cool vibe to the place.

Pros: loads of different kinds of pizza , very fast pickup time, Friendly staff

Delicious crust - Edit

We went to Red Sparrow which was fully booked on Feb 14 so we got take away. You can ring ahead and book a table. I got a Bianca pizza and my partner had the Eggplant one. It was freshly made and I loved the crust, it was so soft. I think 1 pizza for 1 person is the best ratio. They were nice to deal with. I will be going back to try other flavours, maybe to eat in the cafe.
