Easy vegan options

There are several ways to customize your order, and the vegan options are clearly marked. The vegan options are spicy - if you order in person you may be able to adjust the spice level

Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options, Nice outdoor seating area

Cons: Vegan options tend to be spicy

Flavorful and filling

I got the “fat mama” bowl with spicy soy chorizo and subbed vegan dairy. It was really flavorful, although the spicy soy chorizo was too spicy for me. I appreciated the easy vegan options and large portions.

Terrible food, and terrible upcharges

The food is terrible. I got the taco bowl and got vegan dairy and soy chorizo which upcharges $7. ($2 for vegan dairy and $5 for soy chorizo. Its not worth it. The bowl was really bad, lacked any flavor and wasnt too filling. The chips and salsa ($7) also was bad. I made chips at home and theyre just corn tortillas chopped up into 8 pieces then deep fried. They dont taste like real chips. The salsa came out hot, like not spicy hot but warm hot and burnt my tongue and also tastes like tosidas jar salsa. I would not return and I urge people not to visit. Too expensive and nothing here is worth it.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything, Chips sucked, Upcharges everywhere for vegan alternative

Tasty and filling

Great little walk up place! I love mexican food and this spot is awesome because you can choose your own adventure and make whatever- each item as is is vegetarian and you can make vegan by omitting thinfs and adding soyrizo if you’d like! I got the pesto pesto burrito and added the spicy soyrizo and it was GREAT! My boyfriend got the soyrizo tacos and he really enjoyed them! Also a plus this place stays open a bit later than most things around so that’s a win.

Vegan Options

Pesto Pesto was delicious, never had pesto in a burrito before so I had to try it! Easy to ask them to make it vegan.

Rude owner

There are several items on the menu that are almost the same, with very small differences. I was very hungry and am dyslexic so I was having a hard time figuring out the difference between two items, so I asked. She told me to just read the menu and didn't answer my question. I just got some food at the Thai place next door. Their service is friendly.

Pros: fresh local food , filling

Cons: rude owner

Extremely rude greeting

Never got to try this spot and will never go back.

Showed up at 11:45 on a Sunday (9/1/24) (during their advertised open hours) and were met with “we’re not f$!@?ing open yet, it’s not 12:30”.

Ok then. Peace out.

vegan burritos 💯

So happy we found this place on our way back from Hanalei Bay. We both got burritos with soy chorizo & vegan cheese options. I’m not a huge chorizo fan but this combo was super good and fresh. We also got a side of chips and salsa. Service was good and prompt. This is a window in a strip mall complex. There is seating right in front of it.

Pros: Amazing food , Service , Seating

Too much of a good thing (vegan sauce), and too many vegan up-charges

Pros: big portions! Clearly labeled vegan options and substitutions. Cons: extra expensive after needing to pay multiple vegan substitution up-charges, and not very good flavor. Everything was drenched in the vegan sauce to the point where it was gross. I'm not a health food vegan by any stretch, but some vegetables would have been nice.

Pros: Big servings

Cons: Mult. vegan up-charges , Way too saucy , No veggies

Yum!

Tasty burritos with vegan cheese and salsas. They were out of the vegan chorizo when I was there, but I didn’t miss it. Quick and delicious with very generous portions.

Large portions, easy to modify

Not sure why the island is infatuated with taco trucks and "mexi" food but this place was worth the stop. The big mama burrito was giant, flavorful, and balanced. I recommend getting it with vegan cheese (upgrade cost), and add-on soyrizo and avocado (also upgrade costs).

Pros: Easy to navigate vegan options , Tasty, overall

Cons: Upgrade costs

Yummy

Decent portion sizes. We got the 3 chorizo tacos and the taco salad and specified that we’d like it vegan. Like everything here, it was expensive, but at least the portions were good. I could split it with my husband.

Pros: Big portions

Beastly Burritos

The burritos can be made vegan, including a vegan version of each sauce. The owner is also vegan! These burritos with soy chorizo are not only delicious, but very filling and not overpriced. The Baja burrito with avocado is top notch.

Pros: Vegan options, Vegan management

Cons: Still serves meat

Awesome Vegan Options

Got the Hot Mama Burrito with vegan cheese and added the spicy soy chorizo and avocado. Delicious meal and would totally come back. The lady taking our order was helpful in saying what could be made vegan (which is much of the menu).

Pros: Tons of options, Big servings, Reasonably priced for Kauai

Lots of vegan options

They have vegan crumble and vegan “dairy” as options, and initially I didn’t understand the menu but when I told the server I was vegan she explained they can make anything vegan. She also told me the chef is vegan, which always puts me at ease. They had substitutions for vegan feta, ranch, etc. I got the “Fat Mama” burrito and my boyfriend got the “Baja burrito,” we both asked for them to be vegan with the crumble and the dairy substitutes, which brought each burrito to $15 (a great price for the size and ingredients). The burrito was HUGE and so delicious! Would recommend this place to everyone!
Edit: after reviewing them through their own platform they messaged me back and informed the they are owned by a vegan(s), and thanks me for choosing vegan! One more reason to support this awesome place!

So Good!

Had a burrito with soy chorizo, vegan cheese, and a vegan hot sauce. Huge and so good! They were super friendly as well. There are also a bunch of other vegan options at the other restaurants in the shopping center it’s in.

Pros: Big portions

Delicious, quality vegan options

We ordered at another place listed on HappyCow, and then noticed Red Hot Mama’s. This place recently reopened at this location under a new name. The menu looked so good, with vegan written all over it, and they were even more popular than the other places in the food court, so we ordered burritos and tacos and took away our other meal. Vegan ordering was easy, and the ample meals were excellent quality.

Pros: Vegan menu items, Friendly vegan-affirming service, Very popular with locals

Cons: Due to popularity, there can be a wait
