Could be better - Edit
We ordered the Seoul pancake, creole nuggets, and asian dumplings. The seoul pancake was bland and not as crispy as it could’ve been, kinda pale. The soy sauce that came with it & the asian dumplings was pretty diluted. The dumpling filling was pretty good but very doughy. But the salad that came with the dumplings was really good! Good dressing but it’s just a few bites.
Read moreWe had the two veggie entrees: black bean and the teriyaki. The teriyaki sauce was nothing like teriyaki and was also very diluted. Veggies were okay but it’s all about the sauce and it didn’t live up to it. Way more watery than it should have been.
The black bean was a bit better, nice strong black bean flavor. But nothing too special.
Service was not great. Waited several minutes after being served our appetizers to get our silverware. Was served the wrong rice with my teriyaki but it’s a simple error that was easily fixed. We sat at a table that was way too close to the narrow hallway. Bit nervous about an accident with the elbows.
Overall, these 5 plates cost my $65 and I don’t think it was worth it at all.
Go to Luanne’s Wild Ginger on Smith street instead. You’ll get better service, better ambience, better value, and better taste. Their soy nuggets with their unique sauce blow this place out the water.

Drive from NJ - Edit
My husband and I actually drive into the city from NJ (yes, dealing with tolls and tunnel and traffic), just to eat here (and now, during Covid, take out). I love the coconut chicken appetizer and the ribs dinner. My husband likes the sandwiches. We both LOVE the death by chocolate cake. We actually call to make sure they have it and ask for a piece to be saved for us as soon as we sit down (big enough for two). It IS very cozy and gets busy most evenings (no reservations), but we just take a walk in Washington Square Park until they call us. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Our favorite vegan restaurant in New York City!

Favorite spot in all of NYC - Edit
EVERYTHING I’ve ever had is 1000/10 amazing. Best spot in the city in my opinion. The creole nuggets are a must. I’ve had a bday party there (no reservations so beware) and my Omni friends loved it too. Desserts from vegan treats and they have amazing vegan wine too! Prices are great as well

Just ok - Edit
Been vegan over 3 years now, and working my way thru NYC restaurants specializing in plant based menus. We ordered 4 apps here, and only really liked one of them... the seoul pancake... which was excellent. The fish tacos were just ok. But the dumplings and the grilled bourbon chicken weren't good...very chewy and not great sauces. We were super excited for this menu.... maybe we just ordered duds.

An excellent choice when you're in the neighborhood. The root beer float is worth the trip alone. Served in a Duvel glass. Yummy!

Wings!!!!!! - Edit
Red bamboos wings are the reason you come here. Get them. And get then again. I don’t recommend anything with the fake beef but the shrimp and chicken are amazing. The mango chicken is delicious. The only non vegan thing on their menu is cheese which I believe they use to make the Mac and cheese so make sure you specify if you’re vegan!

Cozy little place. - Edit
Omni friend from out of town wanted to try some vegan food and see what the hype was about. So I thought why not try this place for lunch and see if the BBQ wings were as good as some think.
Read moreI ordered the BBQ wings and the kale salad. My omni friend ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich. We loved the wings. It was a great treat for me as I'm mostly whole food. The kale salad was simple but a nice side. Nothing special and maybe a little expensive. But I wanted something green with the wings. Sadly his sandwich tasted more like Italian sausage with onions than a cheese steak. But it wasn't bad. Just not authentic enough. But still tasty and enjoyable. We definitely would like to return and try some other things. The price was typical for the area, for what you get and the atmosphere.
Pros: Vegan with very nice staff.
Cons: None

I come here every time I’m in Manhattan. The food is delicious. So many delicious American style dishes, fried “chicken”, “ribs”, collard greens, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy... yum!

You get what you pay for - Edit
This restaurant is centered around mock meats for cheap. For $12 you can get a large portion of food, including sides, however the sides include unseasoned steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. Looks like someone else said, a cafeteria lunch. You truly get what you pay for. I ordered the Cajun chicken which is apparently one of their popular dishes, and I felt the whole dish, especially the sides, lacked much flavor. It’s a great low budget option, but I would stray from the sides. I also wouldn’t take non veg eaters here as to not perpetuate the stereotype that we eat flavorless health food. I made this mistake.
Read moreIn my opinion, you’re better off going to Spicy Moon for more authentic, flavorful food at a similar price point
Pros: Inexpensive , Plenty of mock meat options, Large portions
Cons: Low quality sides , Poorly seasoned food

Lovely spot, good food! - Edit
I really like Red Bamboo. It's refreshing to be able to eat (almost) everything on the menu. Their spring rolls, BBQ ribs and cakes are delicious. The portions are very generous, I don't think I've ever been able to finish appetizer main dish. Sometimes I get one of their slices of cake to go because it's just so good. Definitely recommend if you're in NYC! Good spot if you're with omnivores as well, according to the ones I've taken with me so far!

Lots of options - Edit
I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. The service was very good, and they accommodated us well. The menu is quite large and can be slightly misleading, as my partner thought it was totally vegan by the way it is laid out, but I was sure from what I read online that it wasn’t. Besides that, I had a great experience and I am super excited to try more menu items next time i go.

A friend told me to check out Red Bamboo while I was in New York, and I absolutely love this place. An appetizer alone filled me up, and the portion sizes were perfect. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were friendly. I was running late to meet someone for coffee, and they even made sure I got expedited service. I’ll definitely be back!

Good fake chicken, wish it was fully vegan - Edit
This is one of my go-to places in the city. I love their chicken satay and bbq wings. The main dishes tend to be less impressive. The desserts are great, especially the vegan mint chip ice cream and cheesecakes. I do wish they would get rid of the dairy items on the menu.

Great - Edit
I've eaten here many times, vegan and non-vegan friends all like it and non-vegans like that some menu items can be made with dairy cheese. I think that the menu is hit and miss. Some things like the cashew or mango chicken are great and others like the Philly cheese-steak and eggplant parm are disappointing. This place often has a wait to be seated, especially if the party is larger than 2, so I recommend getting on the list as soon as the first person arrives to save some time. They don't take reservations as far as I'm aware.
