Generous portions

Great menu and tasty-looking dessert options. We were way too full for dessert. I would share a meal next time to leave room for something sweet. I had a bowl with spicy peanut sauce and it was overflowing with beautiful fresh foods and absolutely delicious!

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff

Very tasty food!

Loved returning to Rebar after several years away. I had the Super Bowl and my husband had the side of potato wedges. Peanut sauce with the Super Bowl was excellent! The entire bowl was well presented and filling. The side of potato wedges was very tasty as was the sauce with it! Wait person was super friendly. We enjoyed our visit to Rebar very much!

Anna Karenina: The Reuben Story

My partner made the mistake of taking me to Rebar and then witnessed me making faces of pure joy that he'd never seen me make before. All the wonderful times we've had together were eclipsed then and there as he watched me fall in rapturous and condemning love with a sandwich. I moaned and cooed (in public mind you), with conviction, the only thing that mattered in the world was what was in between that bread. It devoured me as I devoured it, and the complex feelings of knowing that I may never experience ecstacy to that extent by his hands devoured him.

I would give the restaurant a 5 star review and my first born child.

I had the Tempeh Reuben.

We also had some hummus, which was also delicious.

Pros: A plethora of vegan options., Cozy Atmosphere, good outdoor seating.

Cons: Lovers develope inferiority complex., You can't move into the restaurant.

Vegan Reuben & Chocolate cake

I don't know anywhere else that makes vegan reuben sandwich. They use marinades tempe, beets, sauerkraut and sauces that make this sandwich my all time favorite.

The vegan chocolate cake when they have it is really good.

Other options are a bit bland and overpriced.

Heard about new owners failing to pay staff so am not likely to frequent as I used to. Likely rectified.

Pros: Great service, Vegan options including cake, Great potato wedges

Cons: A little pricey, New owners haven't been fair to some staff

Scummy Owners

The place has gone downhill significantly ever since the new owner took over. Not to mention the fact that he terribly mistreats and steals from staff

Pros: A few vegan options

Cons: New owner added meat, Overpriced, Owner steals from employees

Average Monk curry

Ordered Monk's curry to go. Smelled good but was average in taste.
Quantity was sufficient for two.
May be i'll try something else next time

Pros: Variety of vegan options, Location, Staff was polite

Cons: Not a fan of the interiors, Lack authentic flavors

Pretty good

Pretty good for a meat restaurant. Some good vegan option. We tried the Tempeh Reuben and it was really good. The vegan version of Eggs Kurosawa was ok. The shake was also really good.

Pros: It’s fast. It has Vegan options.

Cons: It’s not a vegan restaurant.

Nice Veggie options

This is a "mostly vegetarian" place, that has some fish on their menu. No other animal flesh is available. Their vegan options are very good and more extensive if you ask for no cheese.

Pros: great food, fun atmosphere, downtown

Cons: serves fish, serves dairy

Meh ok

I was expecting more to be honest. My partner and I each got a different bowl and they pretty much tasted the same. I was expecting. A little more variety. The inside of the restaurant is cute.

Pros: Beet juice highballs

Cons: Not great

Great food and atmosphere!

When I ate at Rebar I wasn’t vegan yet (was vegetarian though). I had their almond burger and it was probably one of the best veggie burgers I’ve tasted. I bought their cookbook and have been trying their vegan burger recipes — they have not disappointed!!!! The falafel burger is one of my favorite dishes to make.

This place is amazing...so good

We went for a late dinner and it was sooooo good! I had Bahn Mi sandwich which was made with tempeh and all the right ingredients. Pickled something or other and sauces.

My wife had the peanut noodle bowl. It was so tasty!

The desserts were amazing, too. Wish we had more room in our bellies!

Pros: Great vegan options, Great menu with lots of choices, Really nice atmosphere

Cons: A little hard to find

good vegan options

Weirdly this place serves fish but otherwise vegetarian. Vegan options/substitutions were clearly marked and there was a lot of choice. My meal was a bit basic but my companion had a really unique and tasty sandwich. Some vegan dessert options too and helpful staff.

Quality

This is at the top of my Victoria list! Everything we had was top quality, fresh and delicious!
While traveling with veg kids it is always welcoming to find a place that has both raw veggies (served with a tasty hummus) and steamed (perfectly done not overlooked like too many restaurants). Kids menu had good options and the cheese quesadilla hit the spot for my daughter.
My wife and I split the Rebar salad and one of the rice and veggie bowls with a spicy peanut sauce. Tofu was firm with flavor and once again the variety of veggie in both were nice and done right.
We will definitely return before we leave Victoria.

Pros: lots of options, steamed veggies, plenty for kids

Perfect for Brunch

The food is delicious and the atmosphere very nice.
It's best to book in advance or come early to make sure you get a sit, especially for brunch on a Sunday.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Deserts and Snacks

I love Rebar! They have a great selection of vegan, veg and omnivore options. I like that they consistently have many good tasting vegan options for any meal of the day. I find that that is not the case for many restaurants. The meals are from all sorts of different ethnic foods, so you won't have a hard time finding something you like. I also want to mention that the service has never let me down and that every time I go the meals taste just as good as last time. Something else which I find pretty cool is that they don't keep their recipes a secret....they have their own cookbook! Overall it is my favorite place to eat anytime I'm in Victoria!

Pros: Delicous and versitile for any meal , Great service and very efficent, Great atmosphere

Cons: A tad bit pricey

for a vegan

This restaurant perfectly illustrates how different it is catering to vegans vs. vegetarians. The best sounding vegetarian stuff had no vegan equivalent, and my veggie/tofu bowl was no better than an Amy's frozen bowl. Might be great for vegetarians, but vegans can do much better in Victoria.

great place, worth the wait

Wow, what a delicious food! We were a party of 4 plus 2 toddlers. We had to wait for 15 min to get a table.... it was worth every minute. The other couple was meat eater, but they did not miss the meat this evening while having a superb almond burger. Great food and service.

Pros: several vegan option on the menu

Besides Bliss, it's the best.

Besides Cafe Bliss (prefer raw, so I'm bias) Rebar is the next best thing - hands down. Everything I've ever eaten or drank there was super fresh and tasty. If you have a big appetite, you'll appreciate their generous portions. And the only "meat" on the menu is a few fish options. Otherwise, everything else is either vegetarian or vegan.

Great staff, location, atmosphere & hours.

Pros: Fresh ingredients, Great staff, Open everyday, early to late

Cons: Not Organic

Good Food!

The Chickpea-Cashew Hummous and Tomato-Ginger Chutney were both wonderful. I was enjoying them separately and then my sister suggested I try them together. What a fabulous taste combination! I bought the cookbook and can't wait to see if I can replicate this at home. Definitely recommend even though the line to get in is ridiculously long.

Pros: Good Food!

Cons: Long line!

Awesome - as always

When we lived in Victoria, this was one of our favorites. Were just back for a visit and eating at Rebar was at the top of our list of things to do. We thought we were Rebar's biggest fans, but we see that someone else has claimed that honor - hope we can share that honor. The food is always awesome, portions large, desserts not to be missed. They don't miss a beat there. A previous reviewer has referred to Rebar as being underground; this is not accurate. It is located on a sloped street so the kitchen side has no windows, but the 2 sides with windows - where customers sit - are only about 3 or 4 steps below street level, which just means the windows are a bit higher than normal. The interior design is eclectic, as is the menu. When in Victoria, don't deny yourself the opportunity for an amazing dining experience.

Pros: excellent meals, creative menu, excellent value

Cons: none
