5 stars

Like other reviewers have said, this place is phenomenal. Ask for the vegan menu upon arrival. I got the soupy biang biang noodles with qishan broth. It was perfection after a long, cold day exploring the Aran Islands. I was in heaven. My husband got the traditional black bean tofu dish with spicy chips instead of rice. So yummy. It was so good we went back the next day, and the staff were lovely😄I’ll be dreaming about Re Nao back in the states!

One of the best Vegan Meals Ever!

HC will not allow 5 stars bc it’s not full vegan, but this place is fantastic and deserves 5 stars for sure. Full Vegan menu. Food is phenomenal. Chef’s are magic. Mocktails were fire. And the desserts were soooo good. Service was great. Vibe is chill and comfortable. Nice setting, beautiful spot, right by the Spanish Arch. One of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had and we’ve eaten all over the world. I’d go back to Galway just to eat here.

Still thinking about the noodles

I visited Galway a year and a half ago and still think about how much I loved the dan dan noodles from here.

So many options!

No many options! I’ve had the hand pulled noodles with miso and soya based broth and it was so delicious!

Their online vegan menu has so many options! Fairly priced and delicious. Give it a try!

Separate vegan menu

The have a separate vegan menu with many options. I especially like the vegan sizzling duck and the homemade noodles. Last time I tried the fried mushrooms from the vegan starter menu and they are super tasty, huge portion as well.

I loved it

The whole experience in this restaurant was just amazing! We were offered the vegan menu without asking for it, and they had so many options. I chose the Traditional Satay with vegan "duck" and rice, and it was so delicious! (even though it looks kinda unspectacular on the picture 😆)
It was also absolutely more than enough, I took the rest of my meal home to have it for dinner so it was enough for my whole day. Would definitely recommend going there!

Totally unbelievable!

We had high hopes going there and even these hopes where too small for what we would get.

Right off the bat, the kind waitress offered us the vegan menu, without us asking her.

The food came quick and the name "Sizzling Vegan Duck" can be taken literally as the sauce was still cooking and fuming as it arrived.

It had a rich, tangy flavour and the Seitan Duck was just spot on, so soft and juicy. It was a bit on the spicier side, but totally okay.

The price was really good, for that delicious and filling meal. And to have two full vegan pages on a menu is amazing.

Big recommendation!

Pros: Kind waitress, Amazing food, Really calm and stylish interior

Fav Galway Spot .. by far

My husband & I went to Renao for our Anniversary & it was, as always, incredible

I got the Vegan Spice Bag (Starter Portion), Boiled Rice & Satay Sauce .. Himself got the Biang Biang Noodles with Vegan Duck (aka Seitan) in a Dan Dan Sauce

We both had a taste of each dish & we both loved all food served

Pros: Separate Vegan Kitchen, Big Portions, Lovely ambience

Separate Vegan menu

There’s a separate vegan menu insert. If your “traditional” menu is missing it, be sure to ask for it. Lots of options. During our visit (Monday) our food was good but the service was quite slow. Worth the wait.

Best food we have eaten

They have a whole separate vegan menu with many options.
My wife took the handmade noodles with tofu and mala spicy sauce in a soup and said it was the best food she has ever eaten.
I ate the sizzling vegan duck and it was also really great.
I highly recommend going there.

Pros: The food, The staff, The price

Extensive vegan menu!

We chose Re Nao because there is so much choice for vegans! There is a separate menu with allergens clearly labelled. We were really pleased with the items we ordered - the seaweed salad and marinated tofu to start and then the sizzling mock duck and tofu satay with spicy chips and jasmine rice for mains. Absolutely delicious! Huge portions too.. we couldn't finish.. come here hungry and you won't be disappointed!

Just short of being pretty good

My first impression of the restaurant was a strong hit in the nostrils of either bad quality oil or that which had been used several times. Of the starter (bun) we ordered that was fried, it tasted that way.

Some of the dishes we ordered lacked a little something; perhaps a little extra seasoning or a missing ingredient. The fresh pulled noodles in the soup I ordered were pretty good though. The seaweed salad was disappointing for €9 given it was mostly filled with green peppers and contained little seaweed. However, the chefs were generous with the amount of seitan used in certain dishes (the soup and the mock dock), so that was value for money there.

The whole experience wasn't bad; it just wasn't great.

Delicious!!

The vegan menu is amazing! The portions are huge. I ordered the black bean sauce with vegan duck with a side of noodles; both the taste and texture were amazing. Everything was incredibly tasty. The service was excellent and the waitress provided great suggestions. If I could, I would give this restaurant 5 stars.

Tried For The Vegan Duck

The vegan duck was pretty good! Never had real duck, but I always get intrigued with non-traditional meats that are veganized. However, the service was a bit hit or miss, and the other food was just okay. We had a lovely time sitting out on the patio though!

yeah… we came back the next day

came here for lunch two days ago and came back for dinner yesterday. they offer a separate vegan menu with plenty of delicious options. i got the same thing both times (oops) - gungun noodles, stir fried seitan (huge portions), spicy sesame dandan sauce, in soup. my boyfriend got the sizzling vegan duck with jasmine rice. the second time we also ordered pan fried vegan dumplings, which lacked flavor but were still ok. definitely needed some salt. overall i thoroughly enjoyed and wish i had more time here to try more dishes!!!! but i’ll be thinking about those spicy noodles for a longgg time. reasonably priced too and great wait-staff :)

Pros: separate vegan menu, customizable, huge portions

Cons: some things not seasoned enough

Big miss for me

Chinese is my favourite cuisine(s) of all time but in my opinion Re Nao was a rather disappointing experience. The crispy mushroom starter was so sweet that they had actual sugar (and some spices, maybe cinnamon) sprinkled on them like they were pancakes/crepes. The tofu gang bao was a bit gloopy without any real flavour but the beans were cooked well however also has some sugary sweetness added, I think this was in the crispy chilli. The best part of the meal was the lovely server, she was very kind and helpful, a real asset to the restaurant.

Vegan, handmade noodles!

We had dinner twice at Re Nao when we visited Galway- it was so good! In particular, we loved the fried mushroom appetizer and choosing our noodles and sauces for the entree. Everything on the menu is clearly labeled, including the cocktail menu! They had lots of fun vegan cocktails. We will be back next time we are in Galway!

Pros: Housemade noodles , Separate vegan menu and clearly labeled options , Delicious food and cocktails

Vegan menu, everything looks good

Loved that they had a vegan menu that you don't even have to ask for (it's in the regular menu that they give you). Everything looked good. I had the sichuan wok fry with the vegan mock duck. The texture of the "duck" was good but it didn't have a lot of taste. It was also spicier that I expected, and quite greasy. I still loved that they had something else that tofu (they also had seitan on the menu). The vegan mock duck was expensive.

Pros: vegan menu !!, lots of options

Cons: vegan duck expensive and not that tasty

So many options, bring your own hot sauce

There were so many options and the food was delicious at this Asian fusion restaurant. My only advice is to bring your own hot sauce because they don’t do spicy in Ireland. I got the spiciest thing on the menu and it was still perfectly mild. Even the extra hot sauce they brought to the table wasn’t really spicy. Overall great food and experience.

Lovely restaurant with great vegan options

This is a great spot with an extensive vegan menu - three and a half pages long! The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was easily the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. We will be returning to Re Nao!

Pros: Amazing food, Friendly staff
