Tasty beverages and desserts! - Edit
I really enjoyed my iced gingerbread almond milk latte (kind of like iced chai with spices but without tea) which was sweetened with maple syrup. The raw chocolate caramel slice was tasty but not my favourite (I can't quite pinpoint why), I'll just have to try out more of their delicious looking desserts! It's got a nice atmosphere and staff were helpful.

Good food but pricey - Edit
Got two desserts and a bag of granola to go. The opera cake ($10) was sort of like a tiramisu and was phenomenal. The banana donut ($8) was also delicious. I thought these two were reasonably priced, but not the granola. At $30 for a 500g bag, I expected more. This "supercharged" blend isn't particularly tasty and the dried gooseberries—too hard and chewy to be in granola mix—really don't add much to the mix other than push the price up. I'd say just come for dessert. Staff was friendly and the to-go box was one of the nicest I've seen. All things considered, I think it's still worth a 4.
Pros: great cake, friendly staff
Cons: expensive

subtle smoothies - Edit
I got a couple of drinks from here, which at first seemed a little watery, but soon I really appreciated the taste and refreshing quality of the drink. also got a selection of cakes to taste, texture was wonderful, especially the chocolate one. The other two flavours I could take or leave!
Pros: vegan treats! props for the vegan cheese cake sel
Cons: very pricey

Great deserts with reasonable coffee - Edit
I have been to Raw Trader several times and found the deserts to be excellent. Their raw cheesecakes (made with cashew cheese) are amazing, very tasty and with a variety of flavours. The slices are good too. It is also nice to have something that is not full of soy. However, if you don't like the taste of coconut oil, don't order a desert... they use coconut oil in everything!
Coffee is fine and apparently their chai latte is good too!
The place can be a little pokey and at around $10 for a desert, it is more of a treat than somewhere you would go daily.
It would be good if there were some savoury or lunch options other than desert, but it's not surprising given that they advertise themselves as a specialty desert bar.
Pros: Vegan raw deserts, Variety of flavours, Not full of soy
Cons: Expensive, Small and somewhat pokey, Use coconut oil in everything

meh. - Edit
I've been to RT 3 times now- so I've really given it a chance! The first time I had a tasting plate and it was nice- this was a year or two ago... The last two times I've been have been in the last month. The sweets were nice but the drinks OMG- poor! The chai was the weakest I've ever had and a week later my smoothie wasn't thick and "smooth" but watered down and leafy!! Over priced, disappointed.
Pros: lemon balls are yummo.
Cons: over priced, drinks poor, cramped, not overly frie

Raw desserts, housemade plant milks - Edit
If you know raw desserts, you know what you are getting here. Rich delicious plant based slices, balls, 'cheese'cakes and chia seed mixes. Heavy on the coconut and tree nuts, fairly heavy on the dates and chocolate/cacao end of the flavouring spectrum. Rich and delicious and cruelty free.
I split a 'Cherry Garcia' slice with a non-vegan friend who shares my mild aversion for shredded coconut, and it was delicious. I did wonder how 'raw' the cherry layer way, as it seemed very compote-y, but it was delicious, and my quest to turn non-vegans one delisious and satisfying food thing at a time continues unhindered
Pros: Handmade with love, Lovely staff, Tasty treats
Cons: Not cheap - but rich, Definitely not low fat/cal, if you care

Not so rawsome - Edit
Raw Trader has a great reputation so my expectations were high before visiting. The slices all looked amazing so we tried the tasting platter on this occasion but unfortunately only one slice (lemon) was exceptional. The others lacked any depth of flavour and I was glad a full-sized version of these was not ordered.
The hot drinks we ordered (a chai latte and white hot chocolate) were also lacking and somewhat weak.
Not likely to revisit.

Naw - Edit
Enjoyed the first time I went there (smoothie and slices), however the second time was average. We had the white hot chocolate, chai latte and the tasting platter (5 slices); the drinks were watery and lacked flavour and most of the slices were average in flavour and consistency/texture apart from the lemon slice which was quite good.
Pros: Vegan
Cons: Pricey, Not entirely awesome

Coffee with housemade almond milk! - Edit
Not many places in Melbourne that you can get almond milk made fresh, on the premises. Well, you can here, and you can buy a bottle while you are in. I had some in my cappuccino and it was lovely, the coffee wasn't bad either.
Service is lovely, friendly and they were helpful.
Loads of choices in terms of sweets. I had a 'caramel slice' which was very sweet and decadent. Nice place to sit and 'take a load off' in a central location, meet friends, read a book or just simply buy a sample plate and make your way through!
Pros: vegan, raw, gluten friendly
Cons: Not cheap

interesting options but pricey - Edit
I've been here almost weekly since it opened. There are tasty cakes, mint choc chip and banoffee pie are my favourites. There are also slices that have all been nice. They are a little pricey but apart from that it is great for a cake/slice without sugar.
Cons: expensive!
