Game Changer - Edit
For me, this is still the vegan pace-setter in Barcelona. Quite a lot has changed here since our first visit in 2014 so I’ve updated my original review. It’s now 100% vegan for a start. This is an absolutely gorgeous intimate establishment serving intricately creative tapas style dishes in a splendid modernist but homely Barrio Gotico setting. For €29 you get a house appetiser followed by your choice of starter, main and desert or you can skip desert and pick another starter or something from the snack or breads menu such as their fabulous croquettes or a Catalan tomato bread. The food is truly excellent and prepared with dedicated precision. You will find some fantastic seasonal combinations here, the menu is dynamic and changes regularly. Rasoterra promotes the 'Slow Food' concept which puts emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and the distance traveled to reach the dining table. The natural wines here are selected very carefully which (in their own words) “mirror and showcase the lands that surround the city”. This is still unequivocally my top vegan establishment of all time.

Fresh and tasty food - Edit
Locally sourced vegetables are turned into tasty and interesting dishes without adding processed ingredients. It is a 3 course meal and they recommended each having different dishes and sharing. This was like a tasting menu as the dishes came out one at a time. Great flavours. The prune cake was particularly good.

Best vegan meal of our trip - Edit
You should definitely eat here - 100% plant based and hands down the best food of our stay. Fixed price menu, which I think changes regularly, so not sure if the things we had will be available but we loved the Fideuá, the wasabi truffles, the tomato and nectarine starter and the croquettes. Dishes are creative, beautifully presented and delicious. It was hard to choose from so many wonderful vegan options. Also a number of great alcohol-free drink options as well as an array of alcohol - I saw the staff inviting others to try different wines to help choose the one they wanted. The staff were great, very friendly and very reassuring that allergies were well understood. A lovely environment - we went on a Friday and it was necessary to make a reservation, not sure about other times but the restaurant was full and they had to turn people away. Including an amuse bouche, we had an exceptional 5 course meal plus a couple of drinks each (one drinking alcohol) and it was 80 euros. A must visit.

Des de la filosofia com a restaurant ( productes de proximitat, atenció i descripció dels plats) fins a l'explosió de sabors, textures i composició del propi plat.

Disappointed... but try for yourself! - Edit
We were excited to go here (we went on Sunday the 9th of June 2024). But we were disappointed. We have been to more fancy/experimental places before. But these flavour combinations were just really not for us. It feels like they are trying to be unique, which we appreciate, but for our taste the flavours were just not working out well.. This is all subjective of course. You should find it for yourself!
Read moreWe also felt a bit uncomfortable. We had a reservation for about an hour or so before their closing time. We felt a bit rushed out. Even though they of course gave the possibility for this reservation on their website.

Fast but Fancy - Edit
Came here with a reservation, probably a must as they seem popular.
Read moreOptional starters. Amuse bouche was a small pickled dish that was amusing. first courses were an ajoblanco that was delightful, and kohlrabi. Second course was fideua (salty) and almond tempeh (very interesting and good). Dessert were strong wasabi truffles and a strawberry pink peppercorn dish (alright).
Service was fast but friendly. Odd though that we were told they needed the table back soon when other tables of two had sat down before us…Would be back, maybe.

Excellent food - Edit
These people are real food masters. Wonderful to have the appetiser and the explanation of the food when dishes arrived. I had the beetroot starter, almond tempeh main, and the chocolate wasabi truffles (wow!). All an absolute delight (the starter was just a little oily). Very rich and filling. The sparkling white wine is beautiful. I initially made the mistake of ordering an Aperol spritz, which did not go with the food and they were kind enough to take it off my bill.
Read moreHowever, unfortunately I found the atmosphere slightly strained and one of the staff was particularly brusque and unpleasant (I was actually taken aback by the way they spoke to another diner). Hence the four stars.

5 stars fine dining experience - Edit
I went there in a very unusual scenario, with my grandparents who are not vegan. They actually were very curious about their menu and the whole philosophy of the place: sourcing local products, km 0 ingredients, etc. We had an amazing dinner. Would definitely recommend it.

Simply wonderful - Edit
We have tried many vegan places in Barcelona, and I have to say, not all are cut from the same cloth. While some are quite tasty, not many can be as innovative, creative and as delicious as Rasoterra. We had tried other higher end vegan restaurants and Rasoterra was one of the best we’ve been to. Each dish presented hit all the right senses, from the stylish plating to the taste and texture of the food. The staff were very informative regarding the excellent organic wines and the set menu. We would definitely go back the next time we’re in Barcelona. Thank you Rasoterra for a memorable meal!

Some dishes were great, and some were not. It has a fine dining presentation with good vegetable quality. You can see the love for creativity with the dishes. With that being said, some dishes were just a miss. Texture for some and flavor for others didn't match the hype.

Muy bueno! - Edit

Great concept, overpriced. - Edit
I wanted to love Rasoterra, but despite their super friendly and cool staff, I felt it was lacking.
Read moreThe presentation, cost and vibe of this spot presents the feeling of high end gastronomy, while the execution unfortunately lacks the real flavor value to back its higher prices compared to other vegan restaurants in BCN. I get what they’re going for, I just feel they’re not hitting it yet in the kitchen to warrant their $32 pp fixed price menu.
This place is whole food vegetable heavy, health and environmentally conscious, which is top notch! It’s just unfortunate that I feel none of the 6 dishes I tried were mind blowing or memorable to a degree I’d want to revisit. They were great dishes, just not stellar.

High quality, modern cooking at its best. - Edit
Before our first trip to Barcelona I googled "Vegan, Michelin Restaurants" and Rasoterra's name popped up as a place that was heading in that direction. I couldn't believe that a 3 course meal for €32 a head would be as good as I hoped, but it was absolutely fantastic.
Read moreThe friendly staff explained in detail every dish and its ingredients presented to us (as you would expect from a high end eatery), but without any ponsy pretence that some restaurants we've eaten in have. They took us over to a display of all their wines to choose the one we wanted - a nice touch.
We were given a tasty little appetizer then we chose
JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE cream, confit shitakes, peas and pea pod emulsion
and
Baix Llobregat ARTICHOKES in escabeche, potato purée, spring onion, fermented artichoke leave juice
Home-made almond TEMPEH, romanesco broccoli, cauliflower, white chocolate, beetroot mayo
and
Baked, creamy and pickled CELERIAC, carrot roasted with nori seaweed, oriental leaves
Sour bread PUDDIN, pear ice-cream, spiced pear
Fennel PANNA COTTA, almond and basil pesto, crumble
I loved EVERY mouthful, especially the Jerusalem Artichoke cream and the Almond tempeh was nutty and much nicer than any I've had before. My husband was slightly disappointed with the puddings as he felt they weren't sweet enough, but I don't have a particularly sweet tooth and I particularly liked the Fennel Panna Cotta.
A great restaurant with lovely, helpful staff and ALL Vegan... heaven!
Pros: Fantastic food,, Relaxed atmosphere, , Helpful staff.

Extraordinary cuisine! - Edit
Our recent dining experience at Rasoterra was nothing short of extraordinary. For €32 per head, the three course meal plus appetiser exceeded all expectations.
Read moreThe staff are really knowledgeable about the food and also the natural wines. They were able to help us choose the perfect wine to suit our tastes.
We ordered a spinach croquette each to start with and it was like no other croquette we'd ever had. It set the tone for an incredible meal.
For us, the calcots and artichoke cream starters absolutely stole the show! Such complex flavours and beautiful presentation.
For mains, we order the fideau and cavatelli, which didn't quite match the excellence of the starters but were nonetheless delicious and satisfying!
Finally, for dessert, we ordered the wasabi truffles and fennel panacotta. The truffles were the clear winner here with their unique creamy twist of wasabi.
We visited many vegan establishments during our short Barcelona trip but Rasoterra was out absolute favourite. With impeccable service and surprising dishes, it is a must-visit for vegans in Barcelona!

Lovely vegan fine dining experience - Edit
Great fine dining experience, very professional service and loved the wine pairing I had with my meal. Natural ingredients and very high quality food. I visited in January so it was quiet, but the atmosphere was lovely, very tranquil. I did not enjoy my dessert as much as the other courses, it was quite watery tasting, but the flavours and ingredients were really unique and I’m so glad I went there.
