Excellent - Edit
Over the time this place has become one of my favorites spots in Barcelona. I'd say it's currently in my top 3.
Impressive and creative vegan cuisine with and amazing service. No more words.
Make a reservation if you want to eat here, sometimes it's really packed.

disappointing - Edit
I think it is a very nice place and it is quite expensive for what I was having high expectations on the food. However I didnt like anything I order except for the spinach croquetas. The taste was just not pleasing in general. Plus the dosis are really small and not filling. :(
Pros: vegan options, cozy, sophisticated
Cons: really expensive , not filling, not tasty

Satisfied - Edit
The food was really nice, I had the dumplings and the Banh-chi which were both delicious and would definitely have again. Worth booking because it can get quite busy.
Pros: Vegan options clearly stated, Friendly staff
Cons: Not a huge menu

Great food and inexpensive - Edit
The interior is modernly furnished and very aesthetically. The food was all delicious and great quality for money. For lunch you can get a starter, main and dessert for €13. The majority of items are vegan or can be made vegan. You should probably make a reservation in advance though.

Great food and wine - Edit
This place makes tasty meatless adaptations of Catalan, Spanish and even Mexican (their huitlacoche tacos are outstanding) dishes. There are no fake meats or over spiced dishes, just fresh ingredients, tasty food and a welcoming environment. The baked mushrooms was my favorite dish, and a no brainer if you like mushrooms. Nice wine selection and friendly service.

special place - Edit
This restaurant puts pride into their menu and food. Service was great. Food was unique and well seasoned. There were many vegan and gluten-free options as well. I would definitely come back.
Pros: nice menu, freshness, service
Cons: no outdoor seating, price, serves cheese

Not the most exciting vegan tapas - Edit
Unlike many of the other reviewers, I wasn't bowled over by the vegan choices. There were three vegan tapas options, and only one vegan wine available by the glass. We had the tomato bread, vegetable and tofu gyoza and the patatas bravas. The potatoes were unlike others that we had in Spain: more like mini baked potatoes. I loved them! The other dishes were nice, but not spectacular. I wouldn't hurry back here.

Delightful - Edit
Rasoterra specialises in slow food. It is vegetarian with many vegan options. We ate tapas style, tasting a variety of dishes full of flavour and presented beautifully.
They have many organic and vegan wines and lots of cocktails.
It's a shame we only found this on our last night in Barcelona, otherwise we would have gone back.
Pros: Great vibe inside, Cocktails, Tapas

Exceptional - Edit
This place it's awesome. As a vegan yolu have half or more of the options. The vegan options are the best. We had the roasted mushrooms (JUST WOW), the kale and mashed potatoes, cabbage, and lentils....
Was just indescribable mix of ingredients and textures.
We went 3 times in less than 2 weeks after tryin it for the first time. (4 times in 2 weeks)
Super recommended. The staff great !
Thanks a lot for this place!
PD: I think they change the menu every week/month so i need to go and check whats new :D
Pros: taste, variety, texture, presentation, staff, location
Cons: the dishes not so big (to say something..)

Veggie gastronomy - Edit
Delicious food beautifully presented. Not cheap but the final bill wasn't as much as I thought it would be. We had a couple of tapas, then for mains rice pancakes, bean soup and mushrooms with dumplings, all good. I should point out though that if you're at all fussy do ask about ingredients as they're not all on the menu - my mushrooms were oyster not chestnut as on the menu, and the beetroot wasn't listed - neither a problem for me, but my daughter was less pleased to find courgette in her pancake. For dessert we had chocolate cake - amazing apparently - strawberries, and blue cheese brulee (who would dream up such a thing? lovely though!) They also have a good selection of cocktails, of which we felt obliged to test the margaritas.
Pros: Inventive cuisine
Cons: You may want to check the ingredients of a dish be

Game Changer - Edit
For me, this is now the vegetarian / vegan pace-setter in Barcelona. Absolutely gorgeous establishment serving tapas and main courses in a splendidly modernist but homely setting in a tip top part of the Barrio Gotico. Some of the tapas can be served as main courses if desired. They also do a great value 2 or 3 course lunch ranging from €8.50 to €11 including wines from the local area. The food is truly excellent and extremely well cared about. Vegans are taken very seriously here. You will find some fantastic seasonal combinations here such as roast fennel and quinoa, brussel sprouts in lime and chilli, and an endive with tempeh balls curry which all work so very well. Things change here regularly, the menu is dynamic. Rasoterra promotes the 'Slow Food' concept which puts emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and the distance traveled to reach the dining table. I absolutely love this place, an instant hit for me which doesn't happen that often. Immediate impact. Savour this beautiful place both during the day and at night.......gone are the dark days of going to vegetarian restaurants and being served slop on a metal tray! Please just ignore any negative reviews of this place. It makes me angry to think that anyone would have anything bad to say. I've visited 400+ vegetarian places across Europe over the last 16 years and this is unequivocally in my top 3 - absolutely no doubt about it. Rasoterra is vegetarian royalty. Real Madrid? (No way), Real Barcelona?, Real Rasoterra!
Pros: setting, food, friendly

I adore this restaurant, I dream about returning and it is without a doubt my favourite place. The food is excellent, the lighting is perfect and they manage to combine a classy interior with a relaxed vibe which puts you at great ease. The staff are friendly and helpful and the menu which promotes slow food is always innovative and offers a good vegan choice. A must do when in Barcelona.
Pros: outstanding food, decor and service

I wanted to tell something good but... - Edit
We tried twice to taste the food of this restaurant but each time the waitress made us wait minutes before coming to us. The first time she even shoved us while going out without any apologize or explanation as if we were invisible. When she finally noticed us, she told to come later because the restaurant was full. The second time, after a similar waiting time she told us to go to the bar were her colleague told the place was full, it was 2:30 pm no one asked if we had a reservation and I could see at least 3 empty tables.
The food might seem good but a such unfriendly and unprofessional staff definitely made us forget our desire to eat there.
Cons: Unprofessional staff, Unfriendly staff

One of the best Veggie Restaurants in Barcelona - Edit
Rasoterra offers a vegetarian-vegan cuisine, with LOTS of vegan choices to choose from. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is superfriendly, speaks english very well. But the best is the food. Just awesome and creative, as organic and local as possible. No matter if you share some tapas or take a big dish - everything here is really yummy. Try the olive truffles for dessert! Highly recommended in every which way, and fairly prized, too!
Pros: Creative Food, Friendly staff, Atmosphere

Delicious food - Edit
I visited Rasoterra with my boyfriend and it was a perfect ending of our trip to Barcelona. It was a bit more expensive than the other places we visited, but this did not matter since the ambiance is great and they take great care in presenting you with good food. Would certainly recommend this restaurant!

One of my favorite places in Barcelona! - Edit
The menu is a bit small but what they have available is carefully planned and more unique than many restaurants in BCN. I had the veggie gyoza and tempeh/eggplant satay. Both cooked to perfection and delicious. My friends had amazing cocktails like a Black Mojito made with licorice liquor. The atmosphere is nice and inside is stylish. Highly recommend, just be sure to make a reservation or go on the earlier side to get a table.

Great staff, great vegetarian tapas - Edit
I've always been a bit cautious about eating tapas as a vegetarian, especially as I don't speak spanish, so an all-vegetarian tapas restaurant (although they don't just serve tapas) was just great. I've bever been to one before, and naturally they had the best vegetarian tapas I've tried, easily. Strongly recommend.

Good place to go - Edit
I've gone there several times, for the brunch and to do some tapas for dinner. They offer high quality local products, everything was always great.
Waiters are really kind, they try to find whatever suits your taste.
The menu isn't too big, but the dishes they offer are cooked with care. Prices aren't too low, but they are fair in the city center.
Pros: Good food, Nice staff, Great location

Good stuff - Edit
Lovely place with a friendly welcome. I'd suggest booking at the weekend as they struggled to get us in late Friday night, but they found us space and we're glad they did. We went back a second time on our trip to Barcelona.
We opted for vegan tapas of which there is a variety and shared between us. This included tomato bread, olives, patatas bravas, mushroom and tofu gyozas, Tempeh balls in a chestnut satay sauce (I think this was our favourite) and some shitake mushrooms. All lovely and brought out in turn when they were ready. The main courses looked lovely too and there were vegan dessert options although we didn't try after filling up on tapas. The water was free, however it was tepid and the bottle it arrived in wasn't very clean. There was an English menu and English speaking staff who were friendly and attentive. It was an informal, bright and comfortable venue despite being hidden down a back alley (currently surrounded by scaffolding) and certainly seemed popular among couples and groups alike.
Our favourite in Barcelona.

low quality food, arrogant waitress - Edit
Große Enttäuschung. Essen absolut langweilig.
Cons: no fresh food, not one single salad, oily overcooked food, restrooms disgusting

We had the most wonderful meal here. Our server was wonderful and spent time explaining the menu and making recommendations. She suggested the perfect wine to pair with our meal and guided us toward the most amazing dessert. Each dish was unique, flavorful and creative. Very impressed!

Lovely food but fairly expensive, limited menu - Edit
We came here expecting a grown up evening of lovely quality food and drinks, which is absolutely what we found. However, the next night, for less than half the price, we ate from a far more extensive vegan tapas menu in Pili Pile and found the quality of food there to be of an even higher standard.

Yum! This is up there with some of the best food I have ever eaten. Rasoterra have a great vegan selection and they have lots of the kinds of food that I love, like tacos and gyoza. I also had the hazelnut-stuffed artichoke which was all kinds of amazing. While it might not be the cheapest place in Barcelona to eat, it is definitely one of the most delicious and well worth a visit. I will be back!
Pros: Excellent food, A yummy Bloody Mary, Friendly staff

a pearl, a must if you are visiting Barcelona! - Edit
Place, food and service are just amazing, we had a delicious dinner. A variety of vegetarian tapas: nachos, fennel & smashed potatoes, goffre with mushroom cream and an amazing Tagliatelle with artichoke and cheese.
The waitress explained every dishes when taking the order and took care of our dinner for the rest of the evening..a success!!
We will come back soon and recommend to all the vegetarians and non-vegetarians looking for a good place ;)

Brilliant Food and Staff - Edit
We ate here two nights on a recent trip to Barcelona. The food and service were top-notch. We loved the pumpkin and fennel soups as well as an entree which was like nachos, but they had another name for it. I am not recalling all the food ordered, but we enjoyed all of it. The first night it was us and two friends; the second it was us and four others. Even though no one but me is vegetarian, everyone was thoroughly impressed. All the staff was lovely. Our favorite was a wonderful young man from Lithuania. He really made both meals a joy. I would highly recommend Rasoterra to anyone visiting Barcelona. I have to say that it is one of the few restaurants in Barcelona that was truly welcoming and warm. We found many restaurants had a lax and/or unfriendly attitude, but this one was exemplary.
Pros: Excellent food, Excellent service, Nice atmosphere
Cons: None!!!

OK - Edit
This is definitely a place to visit for a quiet meal with your partner but perhaps is a little overpriced for the somewhat small portions of food received. Otherwise, the service was fine and the food was certainly perfectly fine, but I'm not sure there is enough to differentiate this restaurant from the many other options in Barcelona.
Pros: Quiet, Decent food
Cons: A little expensive

Not impressed - Edit
First the restaurant looked really nice and stylish, but the staff is really arrogant and the whole thing is quite stuffy.
We were a group of 11 people and one of us came later than the reservation time. The staff simply ignored him and he didn't even get a menu or something to drink! This is an absolutely no go!
The dishes are overpriced and I had bad luck with my soup, which was sour and almost uneatable.
Pros: interieur
Cons: arrogant staff, prices, flavour

Perfect for a daytime break - Edit
This restaurant is very cozy - my husband and I had the entire place to ourselves at 4pm. Only thing is, which has been said, is the service. We sat ourselves and weren't given menus to begin (had to up and get them) and weren't given a check until we asked. They seem a bit too laid back. I am vegan and found a few tapas-style dishes to eat. Though cute and comfortable, the menu could have had a few more things, especially for vegans in a vegetarian restaurant. The portions are small but delicious and are extremely presentable to the eyes. One more thing - this is more of a wine bar than anything else! Escape from the busyness of Barcelona and drink a black mojito with a snack.

Was at first impressed, then not so much - Edit
They have definitely got a chic vibe and an inviting dining room, and some pretty good food. But the staff was kind of cold, and seemed quite impatient when we stumbled with our Spanish. Good for a light lunch or sharing tapas with lots of friends, but I didn't feel like hanging out after we got the check. Nice location in the Gothic quarter: lots of shops and boutiques nearby!
Pros: nice decoration, good menu
Cons: unfriendly staff

Good food, not so great service - Edit
This restaurant could be great. The location is central, the decor is clean and modern. The food was good, full of flavour. We ordered from the tapas menu- olives, tomato bread, tempeh balls, tofu dumplings and potato bravas, all of which we really enjoyed.
My only complaint is about the service. We walked in and no one acknowledged us as we stood there for several minutes, so we just seated ourselves. We then waited 5 minutes for them to bring the menu. We didn't have to wait long for our food, so that was fine, but we waited for about 15 mins after we'd finished eating, then I had to ask for the desert menu, waited another 5 minutes, and we just decided to pay and leave as we were bored of waiting. And it wasn't busy at the time, only 4 other tables in service.
It's a shame when a nice restaurant with good food is let down by non attentive service. Probably wouldn't go again unless there were no other options.
Pros: Tasty, flavourful food, Nice decor and atmosphere
Cons: Slow unattentive service

the concept of this restaurant is to provide food from local area so to reduce the impact of carriage and be enviroment friendly. The place is located in the center of the gotic quarter and offers very interesting organic wines. The food tastes autentic but some of the dishes like tempeh was not very attractive.
Pros: centric, organic wine choice
Cons: service is a bit inpersonal

Fantastic Tapas - Edit
Fantastic tapas dishes, especially the "Chilaquiles of white corn tortillas, frijoles, manchego cheese and green tomato sauce", and cocktails. Friendly and helpful service. Would definitely recommend this place to vegetarians in Barcelona (and non-vegetarians). We came here for lunch and enjoyed it so much we returned later in our holiday for dinner. My little brother, who refused to eat vegetarian or tapas and practically lives on pizza actually quite enjoyed the different dishes he tried! My only complaint is that you can only order juices at brunch, and so there was not a lot of choice for my non-alcohol drinking husband in the evening.
Pros: Selection, Cocktails, Friendly staff
Cons: Not enough tables!, Lack of non-alcoholic drinks

This is a very nice little place that serves wonderful tapas. One of the better restaurants I went to in Barcelona, I enjoyed the tapas, and everything vegan was clearly labelled. I went on April 2014. Staff spoke French and English and took time to explain us the recipes. The food was excellent and very creative. I'd like to spend more time to taste all the dishes. This is tapas, so you order different dishes and share them with your friends. They proposed a choice of great wine to accompany. It's located in a small path reachable only by walk or bicycle. I greatly recommend it.

Cons: Hard to find

superb gourmet tapas and more - Edit
Some of the best veg food I have ever had. We had four tapas - all subtle and intense. Stuffed artichokes with a lovely sauce, herb potatoes (bravas) with aioli and tomato sauce, grilled and caramelized tempeh with raw veg, and a goat cheese with honey and hazelnuts. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful - they knew which cheese was made with microbial enzymes and recommended a delicious fermented elderberry drink. For dessert we had four varieties of truffles - heavenly. The space was light and comfortable and the service wasn't at all slow. This is near Vegetalia and much much better.
Pros: in the center, scrumptious, great service
Cons: none

Disappointing. Could not recommend. - Edit
We arrived early for our reservation, and asked if we could sit early. We were told yes. After we sat, we were essentially ignored for 20 minutes, except to be told they couldn't get to us, as they were expecting us later. We were never given a menu (another patron did), nor were we told the specials of the day (my wife had to get up and get the chalk board on which they were written). Our waitress was indifferent and neglectful. The food was luke warm, which isn't surprising as the service is so poor and slow. The food Iacked flavor, and my wife could not finish her main plate. I have never had such bad service at any veg restaurant, and I do not recall being as disappointed with the food at a place with decent reviews. I would never return.
Pros: nil
Cons: cold service, cold food

Innovative and healthy vegetarian cuisine. Great! - Edit
Rasoterra is a restaurant that focuses on slow-food and the innovation in their recipes. With multiple vegan options, but what surprised me is the purity of the bold flavors and combination of ingredients. My favorite dishes are always the Vietnamese crepe, "patatas bravas" (homemade and very tasty) and their gyozas (with sweet and intense flavor). They change the menu frequently, so you can visit it repeatedly and always surprises you. Claimants of the healthy and tasty food, generate a pleasant climate with a very attentive service and close. Their midday menu is a bit criticized for some vegetarians, but I can only say that their evening menu is excellent!
Pros: Slow-food, Innovation, High food quality

We were early and had the place to ourselves. Only tapas at that time, but all vegetarian so plenty of choices and very suitable for our three kids also.
The space is modern and roomy with cushions on bench seating around the wall.
The menu was modern, fresh and interesting. Gyozas were lovely, eggs in potato strip nests, interesting and a cannelloni made with besan flour, not wheat was a delicious surprise.
English speaking was no trouble and it was a friendly place to go.

Although a little tucked back into the Barrio Gotica, this place was well worth the search! They use thir own produce that is organically grown. The menu changes several times a week as to whats being harvested. Cant rate this place high enough. Great, friendly staff, cute decor. A little well lit for my tastes, but the food and staff were exceptional.
Pros: Variety, Low to moderate price, Organic, gf options, vegan options
Cons: Lighting too bright

Good but could improve - Edit
Atmosphere was nice and the staff really friendly. Everything on the menu sounded really good, but food disappointed a bit when it arrived. Still above average but I think we were hoping for more. This could just be a reflection of their vegan dishes and not the whole menu. Also they served cheese On a dish we ordered which was labelled vegan (not vegan option). They were nice about replacing it.
Pros: Atmosphere and ethos
Cons: Vegan dishes need revamp

Absolutely Fantastic - Edit
I live in Barcelona so have been to every veg restaurant in the city. Most are so bad, sometimes I have to walk out. But some good news...
Rasoterra is hands-down the BEST. Spacious, chilled-out dining area, very creative menu (extremely rare in Spain), really great beer and wine list, super fresh food. Ordered 4 dishes, all were amazing. Service was incredible (again, extremely rare in Spain), and the prices are fantastic. 5 stars, going back next weekend.
Pros: Great Food/Creative Menu, Great Service, Lovely Space
Cons: n/a

Harp 17 Aug 2013 - Seriously? I really doubt that a just-opened restaurant in Barcelona is the best in town. I also have to disagree with your statement about most restaurants in Barcelona, There are many wondeful spots.
Anyway, I'll post my review once I get to taste Rasoterra dishes. Maybe you have raised my expectations :)

Quiet Sunday brunch - Edit
Rasoterra was empty when we arrived but soon filled up with other customers. Enjoyed a combination of breakfast and lunch with toast, tahini and honey to start, toast with melted gorgonzola and pears for my husband. For Mains we enjoyed veggie burger and potatoes and cheese and pear pasta. Water was included and organic bread although we didn't receive this, possibly due to having toast. It was all very tasty although salad would perhaps have been appreciated with the pasta.
Pros: Tasty, Comfortable
