Somewhat tucked away

Small place that has a unique interior design. Feels like you're walking into a dining room/kitchen of a cottage in the British countryside, so felt quite familiar. Walking through the door, I felt like I'd stepped into another world. Served an adorable, wholesome lunch in a bento box by the lovely owner. Wish I had room for dessert!

Wholeheartedly recommend Ramuna

My partner and I visited in October 2019, and were amazed by the food and atmosphere in Ramuna. It is a cosy and comfortable cafe with traditional decor and feeling.
The owner was really kind to us, and made us feel like we were welcomed guests, even despite the language barrier (us not knowing too much Japanese and she not knowing too much English) My partner still dreams of the curry he ate there!😄It was definitely the best food we ate whilst in Japan.
There is also a little shop inside that sells vegan food and other things - I bought a lovely apron from here that I treasure and use every day.

Pros: Fully vegan menu & delicious food., Atmosphere and decor is wonderful.

Cons: none

Lovely little café

What a lovely little Vegan café we found after our visit to Todaji. Bento box and a brown rice plate full of tasty food made for a perfect ending to a great day. The place only has about four tables so you might have to wait, but still very much recommended!

Pros: Great food, Friendly owner, Walking distance from Todaji temple

Cute interior and delicious food

If you're in Nara and searching for a vegan affordable lunch or dinner, this is the place to go! It's not far from the touristy area. The brown rice set was one of the most delicious meals I had in Japan so far! My friend had the ramen and would recommend it too. You can also buy vegan groceries like vegan cheese, instant curry etc. there. Oh and if you like cats you'll love this place even more.

Cute and cosy!

We stopped here for a late lunch one Saturday afternoon.
At first we had a bit of trouble finding it as it's tucked away down a back alley.
I had the genmai plate, my boyfriend had spicy ramen and we shared a hot dog.
It's actually nice to find a vegan restaurant that serves burgers, pizzas and hotdogs as most vegan resturants in Japan are very "healthy, natural" style. The food was delicious! The ramen was maybe some of the best vegan ramen we've tried. The portions were also generous and price very reasonable compared to other vegan restaurants in Japan.
The interior of the cafe is super cute and cosy. And it's clear that the owner is fond of cats!
I'll definitely come again.

Pros: Good food, Relatively cheap, Cute atmosphere

Cons: A little difficult to find.

Cozy atmosphere, great service, low price

This cafe/restaurant was pretty quiet when I went there, I think because it's tucked away on a little side street close to Nara park. But I'm so glad I came. The lady running the shop was lovely and the Bento Box I ordered was filling and tasty (980 yen incl. tax). They have an English menu with a variety of options, both Japanese and Western. Would highly recommend this place.

Pros: Affordable, Close to Nara Park, Charming Decor and atmosphere

Amazing experience

We were the only ones here, the owner was very sweet and the food was tasty. It felt like an authentic, off the beaten path experience. We also grabbed a few granola bars on our way out!

So good !

Lunch was so delicious! We had a vegan bento filled with brown rice/beans , lotus chips , vegan nuggets( handmade) and tasty miso
Then the platter which changes had so many delicious pickles and snacks served with rice and miso and a lemon jello ( gelatine free) ! It’s a one woman show so be patient and enjoy the atmosphere while your food is all cooked fresh for you! Busy times expected a wait but we ordered and had food within 3o mins
Great location and cute outdoor seating

Pros: 100000% vegan menu , So tasty and great selection, Great location and awesome seating

Cons: Takes time but worth the wait so not even a issue

Cozy Spot a Short, Beautiful Walk from Nara Park

This adorable restaurant was a cozy escape from all the tourists in Nara park. They have 4 veggie ramen options, as well as other dishes. I got the spicy soy milk ramen. It wasn't very spicy, but it was delicious! I would love to come back and try the other dishes.

Pros: 4 veggie ramen options, Cozy atmosphere, Kind staff

Cons: Cash only

Would give it 6 stars if I could

Definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. I had the rice lunch set here, my partner the hamburger plate. Both were delicious, generous portions with really exciting and interesting dishes. The owner was lovely and the cafe is really cosy. Some vegan food products and beautiful crockery is for sale too. And don't forget to try the cakes!

Deserving of every single star!

Went here with my family after strolling in the city for a bit; finding good vegan food on the go had been a bit of a struggle before but this place surprised my family and wholly won me over. Cute interior and great food! We all went for the Curry Set and nobody left a scrap over because it all was that great. 🍀

Le "vegan meal set" et la soupe ramen sésame étaient excellents. La propriétaire, qui cuisine les plats, est charmante et offre un bon service. À découvrir, en solo ou en couple.

Very cute cafe with delicious food :)

It's hiden in a smal street - so make sure you have saved it in maps. But its definitely worth going there! We had our dinner there. Everything was made with love and just tasty. Untill now the best vegan dinner I had so far in japan :)

Best food in Japan

As struggling vegetarians, myself and my partner have found it hard in Japan to get good balanced food that wasn't overpriced.

This place was both great value and delicious.

The place is cutely decorated, the menu has a good selection of options, including a special. My set was a great broad range of tasty foods and a neat little coconut dessert that kept me going all day long. We also ordered a bean curry which was tasty and full of vegetables.

The lady speaks no English but the menu is English and we had no problems.

There is a small shop as well for vegetarian food stuffs.

Pros: Delicious, Great value, English menu
