not so nice anymore...

It was an amazing place for vegetarians but had become quite awful now. The food is not nice anymore. Bring back the chef who was there before!

Filling, cheap food

I went in just before closing time by accident but worker was very kind, explained everything to me. I had spicy soy meat and basmati rice, it was very cheap and tasted lovely.

2nd visit:
Went for lunch, had spicy soy meat and rice again but this time also with grilled vegetables and a vegetable samosa. All tasted great, woman working today though did not say one word to me the entire time I was ordering and paying.

So many options!

Huge buffet counter with tons of options rotating daily. Really enjoyed the ginger tea. It is a bit pricey.

Indian food in baltic Riga

A very interesting budget place with a cool oriental atmosphere and food. The large selection of menus, especially "meat" vegan positions. Сheap and cheerful.

Pros: Cheap and good quality food

Overly priced and extremely expensive

Honestly to pay over 8€ for a plate of rice with a boring salty gulash sauce with soy meat is no where near the standards I thought a hare Krishna eatery usually has. Don't recommend this place at all.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Expensive, only cash and extremely bland and salty

Great value for money

Tasty Indian-style food, both hot and cold, savory and sweet. There’s a nice selection of different kinds of bread and pastries as well as desserts. Plenty of clearly marked vegan options. Great value for money, especially in the evenings when they give you a discount. There’s also a small shop selling Yogi Tea, Indian spices and veggie sausages among other things.

Enjoyed my meal.

Decent place for a vegan, not the best but not the worst as well. They give out free food for the needy early morning everyday thats a good cause.

Pros: Lots of vegan options but taste can be improved.

Cons: Prices are fair.

Ordinary Hare Krsna restaurant

You can choose what you will get on your plate from mostly vegan dishes, then you can pick salads and also some desserts (four of them were vegan when we were there, we tried all of them - 2.6€ in total, they were really great!).

The taste of main dish was not something special but it worth for trying and the price was also good.

I would recommend!

Too simple

If you are looking for fastly served food - this is the place to go. They offer plenty of ready made options for a reasonable price. Food is served on metal plates like in a jail, so if you are looking for more inspiring veg place to eat I would choose another spot in the city (and there are plenty to choose from).

Pros: Ready made meals - good if you are rushing

Cons: Food served on metal plates, Taste is a bit lacking

Cheap and good

This place has a lot of variety, and the food is pretty good. Very reasonable pricing, and you pay by weight of the food. Nice staff.

Incredibly affordable

Although I was a bit sceptical at first, this turned out to be one of my absolute favorite places to eat. They have SO MUCH variety! Vegan items are clearly marked . Portion sizes are up to you (the price is determined by how much you take). Very cozy and warm.

Pros: Incredibly tasty food

Cons: They only have one location

Orgasmic

This food is so delicious. After arriving in freezing but beautiful Riga the previous night, I wanted to find a nice, cozy vegan restaurant for my first meal in this city. I had some options but felt they were too expensive for me.

The kind woman working at my hostel desk (she was vegan too) suggested this place and a few others so after trying to keep my map from flying away with the razorblade wind, I finally found it! I was starving and excited that they had plenty of vegan options to choose from.

And oh my was it worth the wait. I ate all kinds of cool things and although I could've ate much more, the €6 for a good meal was enough to ease my appetite for a few hours :)

Pros: lots of different vegan options, you can see all the foods on the counter , very calming restaurant with spiritual vibe

Cons: i was too shy to talk to the pretty girls there!, i wish it was cheaper so i could eat wayyyy more, they don't have them on every block of every city

Overpriced for what you get

I visited Rama several times during my previous visits to Riga and now, after a long break, I was looking forward to visiting it again. Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing.

The selection now is huge, but the ladies behind the counter are not very polite.

The food is not freshly made, a lot of dishes are with a lot of oil and flour. Fortunately, there are some vegetable dishes, too.

For a plate of food I paid 8.5 Euros, which would have been OK if the food was a bit more healthy and freshly made. But now it felt a bit like a rip off, esp. having in mind that the place is more like an eatery.

Pros: Good if there is nothing better, Easy to find

Cons: Very fatty lukewarm food, Overpriced for what you get

great for vegans

I loved this place. there is a large buffet area downstairs with many clearly marked vegan options. server speaks English and is happy to answer questions and knew which dishes were vegan and which were not. prices are very reasonable and buffet gets charged by weight or by item - we paid about €5 for buffet main and drink. drinks are cheap too. whole atmosphere and interior is Indian / yoga style. large dessert section - mainly vegetarian. additional seating upstairs.

Pros: cheap, friendly staff, much choice

Cons: all menus / signs in Latvian only

A good place, lots of vegan options

I had an eggplant salad, TVP in tomato sauce and a coconut date ball for dessert. None of it was spiced with curry and it was all delicious and cheap. Plenty of vegan options, too.

Pros: Tasty food, Good vegan options, Inexpensive

Cons: Limited drinks available

Spices

Rama is mainly offering vegetarian options. Almost everything using Indian spices and flavours.
The taste is fine, however, since I value health over taste(for ex. no fried food goes down to my tummy) there is almost nothing left to choose from.
The place definitely has some interesting wibe, though, you get very little for moderate price.

Pros: nice indian flavors, location

Cons: unhealthy, one vegan dessert option, religious atmosphere

Good vegetarian food

They have a happy hour that begins at 7PM and you can get a discount on all the food then. However, by that time most of the food is gone and there are only limited options, so it is only recommended if you are not very picky. The nice thing about this place is they have Latvian vegetarian choices such as vegetarian pelmeni, mushrooms, Latvian soups, etc. On weekdays, you can sit on the second floor and it is much less crowded than the first floor. If you want to eat dinner here, I recommend you go at around 5PM so you still have a lot of food options.

A big plus is that they are open on Sun.

Pros: good food, Latvian choices, open on Sun.
