Serves meat, vegan options available. In downtown with coffee bar and plenty of open seating. The opposite side of the restaurant, which is horseshoe-shaped, has a beer, wine, and liquor bar. Low-key scene throughout. Menu always has a few items that are or can be vegan, such as pizza, pulled jackfruit sandwich, or lasagna. Removed September 2023: Limited vegan options.

Not the same anymore - Edit
Ralston’s use to be my go-to with a huge selection of vegan dishes. Now you can expect a mushroom sandwich or beyond burger (which they seem to be out of often). I really miss their old offerings which included a tofu and soyrizo scramble, waffles, zucchini boats, pizza, and burger, and a selection of fries. Sad to see that they have changed.

The jackfruit pulled pork is an absolute winner. Pizza is ok. Haven't tried brunch options. Fries are delicious too.

Go for Brunch - Edit
On Sundays they have a brunch menu with multiple vegan items. They have pancakes and waffles (order without butter). They make them sweet (nutmeg, cinnamon-y) and you can add fruit on top, so delicious! They also have a more hearty vegan breakfast, the Optimism One Scramble. It has roasted veggies, hash brown or country potatoes, tofu and/or soyrizo, and bread (as far as I know the only vegan bread option is the house made bread - very tasty option though!). They serve brunch until 5pm on Sundays, and it is not very expensive.
Read moreStaff are very friendly. They also play fun music and often have live music!
Pros: Breakfast options on Sundays, Reasonably priced, Cute restaurant
Cons: It can get noisy (might be a pro if you enjoy live, music though), Finding free parking downtown

Eh... - Edit
Would like to give his restaurant more stars for having a vegan section on their menu, but honestly should give them less stars for bringing me a vegan pizza with dairy cheese (blaming it on the “new” chef) and (because they didn’t even have vegan cheese). They gave a vegan bbq jack fruit sandwich as an alternative, which left me feeling not so good the rest of the evening. Make sure the chef understands vegan vs vegetarian, or keep walking past this one.

Thoroughly impressed! - Edit
My friend and I came here and got the lasagna and pizza and were especially in love with the pizza crust! It was hearty but not too heavy or fatty which was nice, and the portions were great. The waitresses were so friendly and we were very pleased with the ambience and service, as well!

Great Food, Great Vibe - Edit
Such a treat to have a place downtown that has vegan items right on the menu, not to mention a staff that speaks fluent vegan. I have already eaten here four times in just two weeks--everything from green tea and pastries to polenta with roasted beets to tofu scrambler that comes with potatoes that almost remind me of barbecued chips. With each meal I've had, every bite woke up my senses, making me think, Wow, that is crazy good!

Bottom line: I highly recommend Ralston's Goat. You can even bring your non-veg friends, too.
