Delicious food in a lovely spot - Edit
Visited here twice while I was on holiday near the area. They have an extensive list of healthy vegan dishes and lots of high-protein options, ideal if you want something more filling.
Read moreMy favourite dish was the tofu steak with mushroom sauce and rice. Everything was flavoured to perfection, the portion size was good and the service was very friendly.
It's right at the west end of Quarteria, but a very pleasant walk to sit in a sunny spot.
Pros: healthy menu, reasonably priced
Cons: can be a bit chilly in the shade in the winter

Just a quick note on the location, this restaurant shares a fenced-in area with another restaurant. As you walk in, the first restaurant is Forte Novo, you have to go right to the back to get to this one. We accidentally sat down in Forte Novo when we wanted Raízes, and we saw another group on our next visit accidentally sit in Raízes when they wanted Forte Novo, so seems to be a common confusion.

Lovely Vegan Restaurant beside the sea! - Edit
We were lucky enough to stay only a 4 min walk from our apartment.. so we ended up there nearly every day of our holiday for breakfast or lunch! The winter opening hours seem to be 10oc - 3.oc.
Read moreIt’s located right beside the sea, you can hear the waves lapping as you eat! There is a huge choice on the menu. The staff are friendly and easy going. We loved the choice of dishes available.

Enchanting - Edit
This is an amazing restaurant in an enchanting setting right on the ocean. The food was excellent. The coffee was very good. I regret not trying the desserts, they sounded amazing. But I couldn't stop eating my dinner, that's the only reason I didn't try dessert.
Read moreI hope to return here some day.
Pros: Great food, Great setting, Good coffee
Cons: It's outdoors near a bbq restaurant, but don't let, that stop you.

Quite good food in beautiful location - Edit
I expected much better food by looking at the reviews but it was not that good unfortunately. Ok and nicely presented but taste not special. I had a meal of the day- deep fried tofu but the taste was average, it wasn’t seasoned at all. The same for “steak “. The location was amazing and the restaurant looks beautiful and very relaxing

Beautiful location - Edit
The food was fairly good and the presenting was generic. The only reason I gave four stars was because the dessert was delicious.

Delicious breakfast - Edit
We had breakfast here on our departure day. It was a perfect last meal in portugal. Very tasty and made with love. We had overnight oats and different toasts. Also the juices are great.
Read moreDon’t come in a hurry because it takes rather long to get the orders. But as it is a pleasure to just sit on the lovely terrace and listen to the well chosen jazzy music, the waiting is no problem.
I am upset that we did not find this place earlier!
Pros: Atmoshere, Breakfast, Drinks

Great all-vegan cafe/restaurant in pretty location - Edit
Who’d have thought that Quarteira would have an all-vegan cafe/restaurant?! It certainly caught us by surprise and we got to visit twice during our stay in the Algarve.
Read moreOur first visit to Raízes was for brunch and we both had the scrambled tofu on toasted bread which was delicious. We also tried two of the desserts: chocolate and nut ‘snickers’ pie and fruit ‘cheesecake’. Both were amazing and unbelievably tasty, especially as they contained no added sugar.
We went back to Raízes the following evening for dinner in a larger group and tried quite a bit of the menu. The bruschetta and vegan cream cheese starter was chosen by several of us because… well, it sounds delicious doesn’t it? Sadly, it was a real disappointment. I’m not sure what brought an additional, quite nasty, flavour to it but it almost tasted like it had some type of chemical in it. Not a good start but the fried green bean fritters were much better and reminded us of why we’d come back.
For our mains we had: tofu cataplana (delicious but could’ve done with being larger as it only came with two small pieces of bread), organic tofu steak with brown race (ironically, so huge that nobody could finish it, but also delicious), the mushroom risotto (very nice) and the seitan burger (also very nice).
For dessert we tried the ‘creamy pot of cookies and cream’, which some of us liked whilst others found it a bit sickly. Personally, I loved it.
The location of the restaurant is great, with all seating outside with views of the sea and beach. Watch out for mosquitoes though as a number of us got bitten whilst we were there, despite using insect repellent and there being citronella candles on the table!
If you’re vegan, vegetarian or just like plant-based food, you should definitely visit Raízes. It’s excellent and in a very pretty location.
Pros: Service, Healthy, tasty food , Views
Cons: Weird-tasting bruschetta , Mosquitoes
