So glad it exists and lovely staff but needs to improve - Edit

I really hate being negative about this place as there are so many good things about it. The staff are lovely, the decor is fun and attractive and the cakes are amazing and it's all vegan. These are all good things and undoubtedly make it a worthwhile destination and one I would still visit again. So why only 3 stars? The main courses are just, well, er a little basic and bland. Look I get it, vegans want somewhere they can get their old non vegan favourites whilst non vegans can see that they don't have to be denied their old favourites should they make the transition (which I hope they will). The only thing is that the food is good and solid but massively uninspiring. I mean a burger comes with a nice enough patty and some garnish with a little side salad but then it comes with tortilla chips and not real chips? It also doesn't have the option of gherkins or relish or basically a lot of the trimmings that make a burger so fun. In fact all the dishes come with tortilla chips, the same side salad and then the main bit which is a burger, hot dog or pie. It's all perfectly nice but for £8 or more it does leave you a little underwhelmed. I'm not saying it's not enjoyable and the cakes are absolutely fantastic but I think as vegans we can now expect a little more. Compared with vegan joints in places like Bristol or London it doesn't really stack up.

Look I absolutely love that Exeter has a fully vegan cafe and as I say the staff and owner are brilliant and so I hate to leave this review but I think that anyone coming on here and seeing 5 stars will visit expecting a much better quality of food than they'll receive. I also can't help but worry that non vegans might look at these reviews and think this is the best that vegan food can offer and then go away disappointed and feeling that vegan food isn't all that inspiring. I know that vegans and vegan establishments shouldn't be held up as examples of excuses why people won't go vegan but I still worry this isn't putting the best vegan foot forward.

So in conclusion, I'd say it's still worth a visit and the cakes are magnificent but just lower your expectations as loyal lovely vegans have over marked this place out of sheer joy of having a vegan place to eat and the desire for it to be a great place. It's good, it's just not 5 star good. I think the management have to seriously consider making some changes so that they don't squander the good will that the Exeter vegan community has given them. Thanks for reading (if you got this far).

Pros: all vegan, great staff, amazing cakes, simple good

Cons: uninspiring, not expensive but not good value eith

lovely lunch ! - Edit

I came to this cafe with my mum and her friend , neither of whom are veggie. I am always tentative to bring people to new place s that don't serve meat but it went down extremely well - clear plates all round ! I will definitely be coming back !

Pros: yummy food , lovely decorations

Cons: long wait

Wow!! Amazing, amazing, amazing. The food is exceptional, as with everything else in this lovely Vegan cafe, this is the only place to eat in Exeter. All Vegan so no animal abuse here, I do have one bad thing to say about this cafe it's not open 24 hours a day, apart from that, it's Mega!!

Pros: All Vegan, Very friendly staff, Excellent food

Sunday opening - great! - Edit

This is the only vegan place open on a Sunday in Exeter so that's the first bonus!
We weren't disappointed with the food. The tofu dog & tofu toastie were both super tasty. Hot chocolate with marshmallows was great too.
Definitely recommend.

Pros: Good service, Great varied menu options, Tasty coleslaw side

Vice or Virtue? - Edit

I have never been disappointed with a meal here. The menu is split into healthy and not so healthy options, which is really helpful. There is a great amount of choice for both food as well as drink, plus there is always an array of amazing desserts or cakes if you are still hungry after the very filling portions provided if you order a main meal.

Pros: Good value for money, Great variety of options, Decent portion size

Cons: Quite out of the way, hard to find the first time

A Great Addition to Exeter's Ethical Eating - Edit

We have been twice to the Rabbit Cafe, both times with our Grandchildren and we have all loved it. Good food and excellent milk shakes and the cakes are to die for! We would go more often but we live outside Exeter and only visit occasionally. This is now a regular stop when we do visit.

busy busy - Edit

Always busy, lively and friendly atmosphere. The cakes and the chocolate milk are amazing! The food is okay, a good range, and it's nice not to have check the menu as you know everything is vegan :)
There are normally dogs when I go, which is so lovely and contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

vegan cafe in Exeter! - Edit

I finally got round to visiting rabbit! A local vegan cafe - what not to like?
I had the daily special of a NOmeatball marinara sub and a strawberry banana cheesecake for afters. Both were absolutely delicious. The cafe has got a nice relaxed and informal atmosphere with lovely murals painted on the walls. I will definitely be going back to sample the rest of the menu! It all sounded delicious and it's such a novelty in England to be able to have anything off a menu! :)

Pros: all vegan!, delicious food, nice choice on menu

Great for coffee or lunch - Edit

The cakes and flapjacks are the best around and are always changing so its always great to visit and see what's on offer that day. For lunches you can go healthy and get some great salads and light bites but if you are feeling like indulging yourself you can get dogs, burgers and that west country staple a lovely pasty. Not cheap but then neither is the food which is always freshly prepared to order and for us vegans you can have anything and everything on the menu. That said the menu would satisfy any meat eating friends with its tasty alternatives.

Pros: The food is all Vegan and its all excellent!, Great for coffee and cake, Friendly staff who remember you

Cons: A little bit out of the way, Some might think it a bit pricey, They don't open in the evenings

Lovely cafe - Edit

Visited Rabbit for lunch. We both had the walnut and quinoa burgers, which were absolutely amazing. They also came with tortilla chips and salad with dressing of your choice. Service was excellent and fast too. We also got cakes to takeaway which were so good! Should have got more to take away as I didn't realise it was closed on Sundays!

Pros: All vegan, Awesome wall art and ancient well, Dogs allowed

Cons: Closed Sundays and Mondays

Vegan organic oasis. - Edit

100% vegan (and mostly organic) delicious food. Menu divided into Vice and Virtue sections for not so healthy or healthier options. Assortment includes burgers, toasties, ravioli, quiche, salads, hot dog etc. Amazing desserts and cakes including cheesecake of the week and sundae of the week plus the now legendary ( from Seasons vegan shop) raw peanut caramel slice. Range of hot and cold drinks including hot chocolate with squirty cream and marshmallows. Prices are reasonable especially as it is mostly organic. Lovely, relaxed environment and very friendly staff. Oh and an ancient well in the corner!

Pros: 100% vegan and mostly organic., Happy, friendly, relaxing place & people.

Cons: None
