plenty of choice and great for a family meal! - Edit
I've been a couple of times now, it's a good location to meet my family for a fuss free dinner.
Plenty of choice! I recommend the haggis burger and the chocolate coconut tart (on the standard menus)
Make sure you get the separate vegan/veggie menu.
Pros: Plenty of choice
Cons: sometimes run out due to popularity!

Vegetarian Options - Edit
The info for this pub is clearly out of date. There is no longer a separate vegetarian or vegan menu. There is however a menu with vegetarian options marked, of which there seemed to be quite a few. There are no vegan items marked.
The server did understand what 'vegan' meant and was able to offer suggestions of two menu items that could be altered to be made vegan, a curry and a penne arrabbiata. A bit disappointing they have obviously not carried on catering well for vegans. but good that there was more than hot chips which is usually the only option at most pubs.
Unfortunately the food was pretty average (very overcooked pasta, cold chips), but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they were having an off day on this occasion.
Pros: Nice location, Vegetarians well catered for
Cons: No vegan items on menu, Quality of meals not great

choice and plenty of it - Edit
Impromptu pub lunch Saturday afternoon.
Warming log fire and good range of beers with a specials board just for vegan and vegetarian options. It was no problem for them to accommodate my vegetarian and dairy free choice and the portion size was just right. The previous reviews on here are out of date and I would definitely go back.
Pros: choice and accommodating with good portions
Cons: parking is limited but there is the pay to park be, it was very busy so service was a bit slow

Friendly staff but bad food - Edit
This is a chain pub which used to have a vegan owner and the current manager carried it on thinking they could tap into the 'niche' market.
The food is clearly not made by vegans. It is either bland or far too spicy. It's a shame because it is in a lovely location and has a nice outdoor area. The bar staff are friendly and helpful but unfortunately the food just is not worth it.
Pros: outdoor seating, friendly staff, cheap
Cons: poor quality food

Good choice but no dessert! - Edit
There is a big vegetarian menu with about 6 vegan choices, which is way more then your average pub! I had the vegan fajitas which were yum. Only let down was no vegan option for dessert.
Pros: good choice, large portion sizes
Cons: no vegan dessert option, no soy milk for coffees

Disappointed - Edit
Staff good, vegan choice poor unless you Like spicy food. They had no vegan dessert. chef poor cocked up my order and they didn't have any left of my first choice, they did give me my meal for free and said sorry. but the only choice I had were fajitas and they were disgusting swimming fat. But there vegan garlic bread was lovely .

veggie in new forest - Edit
I found the queens head to have enough vegan options admittedly I don't mind spicy food, prices are ok,not cheap but not too expensive, good beer, friendly, will go again, large vegetarian selection, was busy last time we were there and we were told there was an hours wait but with the absence of anywhere else with such an extensive vegetarian menu in the area beggars can't be choosers
Pros: vegan options, food good, good beer
Cons: can be busy,up to 1 hrs wait

Limited vegan options - Edit
The pub is in a wonderful location and offers a great choice of vegetarian options but falls down when it comes to vegan ones.
Everytime I have been the two vegan options are spicy and my partner cannot tolerate spice. The chef did alter a vegetarian meal for him to make it dairy free but we felt it would be a good idea for them to have one regular non spicy vegan option. The pub gets incredibly busy in the summer and is probably best avoided due to the wait time for food - on one occasion an hour for a starter and the waitress did not apologise.
The prices are reasonable and the food is very tasty but it is not a good choice for vegans.
Pros: location, good vegetarian options
Cons: poor vegan options, not recommended in summer

New Forest Vegan - Edit
Eating out in the New Forest is tough for vegans if you don't love chips. Even at the Queens head the veggie menu is great but it's standard last minute stuff for vegans. The ecuse for the delicious Mushroom pie not being vegan is so pathetic I forget why. The best we've found in New Forest apart from Chinese Indian etc but it could so easily be AWESOME rather than just OK and that's annoying
Pros: Vegetarian, Traditional British, Good Value
Cons: Vegan
