Quartino Bottega Organica
Serves meat, vegan options available. Italian restaurant focused on organic and local produce. Find soups, salads, whole wheat pasta and gnocchi with sauce. Vegans could have ravioli stuffed with broccoli rabe, various pasta with fresh tomato and basil sauce, artichoke pasta, fennel and arugula salad. Soups, salads and desserts are all vegetarian.

A secret hide-away - Edit
I almost hate to add a review because I'm afraid if too many people discover this wonderful little gem it will become over crowded. Nonetheless I can't help myself to give this place high praise for a delicious vegan meal, warm and intimate atmosphere and an outstanding menu.
Although not a vegan restaurant, there is fish and cheese on the menu, there are so many options available (indicated with a V) that I had a hard time choosing what to order.
Everything is organic and freshly made including the bread. Fresh olives and olive oil to dip the bread into was so good I could have filled up on that alone.
Pros: Delicious, LOTS of vegan options, Fresh and organic
Cons: No vegan desrt option other than fruit

Organic, veggie and vegan - Edit
Whole wheat pastas, farro, and gnocchi topped with a variety of veg-friendly sauces are on the dinner menu at this casual, East Village restaurant , but for me the salads were the stars: inventive combos of ingredients, seasonal organic produce, light and delicate dressing. Vegan and gluten-free options are clearly marked, there are several veg-based soups and starters, and the pastas are hearty and rustic, such as ravioli with walnut sauce or pesto lasagna with creamy béchamel. Many different pasta types (penne, tagliatelle ) can be ordered with a range of fresh, uncomplicated sauces of fresh tomatoes, herbs , artichokes , pine nuts and for ovo-lacto diets, home made mozzarella, tangy pecorino or Parmesan. A good selection of organic wines and a tantalizing dessert menu are available. Service is attentive and quick, the atmosphere is tranquil and friendly and I noticed a steady stream of mainly single diners and sippers taking advantage of happy hour , seated at the wide front counter.
Prices are medium range for downtown Manhattan--$40 per person for a glass of wine, starter or salad, a main course and tip. The restaurant accepts cash or AMEX only, so be prepared , if you want a fresh, organic , rustic (and not touristy fake ) Italian meal with plenty of veg options.
Pros: Vegan and veg friendly , Organic, Whole grains
Cons: Manhattan prices, Cash or AMEX only
