Local Gem - Edit
This little place is only open for lunch and the menu is small but the couple who run it put out a wonderful meal. They had juice made to order, soup, pasta with a salad or an Indian lentil Dahl with rice and some desserts. All was healthy. It is very reasonably priced as well.

The food is delicious, we tasted almost everything from the daily menu and we loved it! They are very nice and friendly. They only offer vegan and gluten free food. Would highly recommand!

I was so happy to discover there would be a vegan cafe right around the corner from where I was staying in Alvor. This cafe was even better than I expected. Food is so fresh & flavourful!

Two times to eat in, and one time to take away a lunch..
I ate here with my friend, who is not vegan, but couldn't stop raving about how good the food was, particularly the tofu Shepards pie we got that day!
The first day we visited we ordered 2 juices each..(because they were that good) , a Shepards pie & a chickpea stew..
The second visit I ordered a take away pasta carbonara which was just as enjoyable as dining in..very creamy, full of flavour, yet nice and light. The 3rd visit we had two juices each again, which were also different flavours on each visit as the menu was different each day too. We ate a tofu lasagne each but didn't have any dessert on any of our visits which I now regret..
Staff are friendly, cafe has a lovely peaceful atmosphere and little shop in it where you can buy little pastas and other items..

Die Stimmung im PurEssence war sehr angenehm und die Besitzer*innen und die Bedienenden waren so lieb! 🥰 Das Essen war auch superlecker, gesund und ausgefallen. Der Preis ist auch angemessen. Die Sitzplätze draußen haben uns sehr gefreut, drinnen ist es aber auch schön. Kinder und Hunde sind willkommen. Es scheint eine wechselnde Tageskarte zu geben. 😊

die Tagesgerichte waren beide sättigend und sehr lecker. Dazu war das Essen und auch der Kuchen selbstgemacht und KEIN Fertigprodukt aus dem veganen Supermarkt-Regal.
Zudem sind die Preise fair und wir wurden sehr nett bedient.
Fazit: super Laden!

This place was incredible. We didn’t think it would be as good as it was. Every meal was an 11/10. My husband ordered 2 more of the main dishes after eating the first one so that he could take them home! The atmosphere is inside is so homey, they have beautiful outdoor seating, the staff was incredible. LOVED the rice pudding. Everything we ate was amazing. Thank you to them for running such a wonderful vegan restaurant

I had the bolognese which was delicious and surprisingly filling. My family had meatballs with rice which was also very good. The portions were smaller but very filling. We then tried the apple pie, rice pudding and raw peanut butter balls. All of those were excellent. The cafe is gluten free and I sometimes tend to be able to tell that, especially with spaghetti but it was delicious.My mom is raw vegan and she ordered plain apples and the staff had no problem with it. They were very accommodating and could speak english well. We also bought some milk and snacks in the store inside. There were not that many things, but had good vegan basics.

So happy to find a vegan restaurant. Fabulous selection of delicious dishes including (on our visit) shepherds pie, beyond burger with either pineapple or mushroom and spinach soup. Good juices, all freshly prepared. Very lovely staff who spoke excellent English.

Cute place in Alvor centre. Menu is fully vegan! The food was very well prepared, I had the soup and the plate of the day which included quinoa, tofu and a salad on the side. The staff was very welcoming and cute. Puressence is a must visit when in Alvor. 😄❤️🌱

We all got the Beyond burger with some different toppings and it was delicious. Lovely staff and it seems to be very family orientated. I noticed a sign that said it’s dog friendly too.

We ate here 3 times on our holiday to Alvor, each time the food was so tasty! Great vegan food not just vegan fake meat and fast food. The place itself is great too with a lovely outdoor seating area and run but a family. Highly recommended and I’ll be visiting again when I go back in November.
