CLOSED: Puree Juice Bar

Maybe you are not a Mint Club member, and so you don't know about Puree in Adams Morgan? Yeah, me neither! Adams Morgan reminds me of an area of town where you are not trying to be healthy, let alone pretend to be healthy. If you are, well, then head a bit further south to pick up some delicious juices, nut milks and smoothies.

This location is not as extensive in the offerings as the flagship store in Bethesda, but it's a great choice compared to other Adams Morgan options. They have choices like green juices, carrot juice, coconut water and almond/ cashew milks. The smoothies are phenomenal, but beware, you will drink them so quickly you won't know what happened to the beverage.

For a juice and smoothie bar, Puree has a good variety. I appreciate the organic ingredients and the veganism. It seems silly that juice wouldn't be vegan, but, it's probably smoothies that are often not vegan... this place keeps it all vegan, which is great for those who are always looking for the vegan options. Here - no worries, drink away and feel safe in your veganism!

They have a few "shots," like wheat grass, kale and ginger. Also, great choices of "elixirs" comprised of alkaline water with essential oils. It does depend though on when you go for some of the juices. However, the smoothies are made to order - so just order up, and the "purista" will pull ingredients from the fridge and/or freezer and mix it up for you. I have to say that the best ones have cacao powder or nibs or cold brewed coffee. There is a lot of coconut water, too, as well as almond/ cashew milk.

Everything here is delicious, but yes, it's cold-pressed, raw, organic vegan juice in a glass bottle made fresh. It will cost you. However, the prices are not higher than other juice bars of cold-pressed status.

The best parts of this juicery is the location and the variety of organic smoothies and juices. You can also order a cleanse made up of about 6 juices and some shots.

Finally, you can recycle the glass bottles at Puree. Clean them well, bring them back without a lid/ lids, and save 25 cents on your next juice/ smoothie. Yay! It pays to recycle!
